Default Delights Or Regrets?

So i am sitting here looking at my home theater equipment, thinking about my current equipment and the equipment i have had in the past and have sold.

I sold my ps3 about 2 months ago and purchased a panasonic bd-60 as my main blu ray player and have never looked back. I do not miss the ps3 at all. I absolutely love my BD-60! Sure the ps3 was a good blu ray player, had some good games and so on, but for some reason i was never won over by the ps3, even though i have always backed sony in the console wars, there was just something about it that i did not like! Anyway i have never made a decision on my equipment that i have regretted and have never said "MAN I SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT"

my question is have you ever purchased or sold something in regards to your HT and regretted it or purchased something and have been delighted with it? If so what was it?

I have had my stuff for about 6 months now and I can't say I regret or can say what delights I have from them yet.

Well back in November 2009 I bought a Focal Sib&Co 5.1 system which included a Cub2 subwoofer. WOW it sounded great until I listened to a pair of Bowers & Wilkins 683's, so my younger brothers have the Sib&Co 5.1 setup and I'm working on rounding out my new 5.1 system. I just need the left and right surrounds which will be a pair of 684's and then I just need the sub. I already have a B&W center channel.

New pics coming soon....

Sold a pair of B&W 703's to a friend because I thought I could live with out them (so far, that's true) and I wanted the money to buy new toys that the wife wouldn't give me the approval for (until I said.... "hey, I'll sell these" )

Well.... I'm probably going to be repurchasing them once I have an actual HT..... I guess I don't regret it too much, because I'd be using them now, but I have other speakers I wouldn't be using, so it all balances out (somewhat)

I must say that I am really happy that I sold my Sony speakers and got the Energys, then I added the eD, and now I am truly happy whenever I hear anything. When I first heard them I was like wow, how did I ever go without them. They way my system is right now I love watching movies or listening to music.

I have no regrets.

I am very slow in upgrading my HT hardware (although my wife disagrees ). I take my time in choosing each component. I have been a long time fan of Rotel amps and recently I got an Emotiva XPA-5 amp. I am very happy to find out that this Emotiva isn't only better in sound than the Rotel amps I have had in the past it is also much much cheaper (retail is 60% less) than a comparable model. Build quality is just as good. I'm so happy with this amp I plan to add another one later this year. So yeah no regrets for leaving Rotel and discovering Emotiva.

I do exactly the same. I quite frankly don't have the funds to be making quick decisions anyway, so research is extremely important to me. It can take me a year or two to decide on something.

Delights:

Bought a pair of DYI speakers from a through a friend in the Philippines as well as a custom built tube preamp with HT Bypass. Best bargains I have ever had.

Music Fidelity V-DAC, I converted most of my rock CDs to FLAC and stream them through a AC Ryan media devise to the V-DAC

Oppo BD83 SE edition: I use to play all my SACD's, and most of my jazz and classical CDs

Regrets:

Rotel RSP 1068, not cause it is bad but I only kept it for 5 months before changing to something with HDMI. I should have waited but my receiver stop working properly and I was looking for an upgrade.

After I got my TV home, I needed a better DVD player. At this point I wasn't into Blu-ray yet, So I bought an upconverting player for around $150. A few weeks later the PS3 had it's first price drop and my cousin talked me into getting one. After getting it home and watching Planet Earth, my dad got a nice upconverting player. After a week or so I went out and bought a Panasonic HTIB for $250 and finally watched a few Blu-rays in 5.1 surround. Fast forward 3 months and I'm in a Sound Advice looking at car stereos and I notice they are having a sale on Polk speakers. I get them home and box up the HTIB and give it to my dad. So I have a few regrets about buying equipment that I really shouldn't have, but my dad was delighted with my decisions.

I won't even discuss the Monster HDMI cable I bought before I was schooled on Monoprice here.

Ouch, best to block that out yes, but you must also remember so you can educate others.

How could I have regrets? I don't sell anything. I have given a few things to friends over the years, but I keep collecting more and more. You should come and check my garage and closets.

Oh. I have more than repaid Best Buy for that sale. I think everyone on my block has a monoprice or Blue Jeans HDMI cable.

Oh come on, it at least serves a purpose. I now show people first hand how an $80 cable is no better than a $5 one. Monoprice really should pay me a commission.

Well I only started building an entertainment system about 3 years ago. Of my purchases thus far I'd rate them as such.

Delights:
Playstation 3 -
Really cannot say enough good things about this system. I have played all three major consoles this generation and the PS3 is by FAR my favorite console. Going beyond just gaming it's just a fantastic Blu-Ray/DVD player and multimedia system.
Sharp Aquos "42 HDTV - Had it for about 3 years now and couldn't be happier. Really nothing bad I can say about it.
Onkyo 605S Receiver - I really like Onkyo receives. The 605 is my first and it still works great after 3 years. Though I probably will end up replacing it with a newer model sometime this year.
APC 10 Power conditioner - Only owned it for a few months but I've been impressed with it thus far. Living in Florida we get a LOT of thunderstorms which knocks out electricity or causes surges. The APC 10 always hold up well.

Regrets:
Nintendo Wii -
I had huge expectations when I bought this console shortly after release. It has failed my expectations on almost every count.
Polk HTIB - This was my first set of external speakers/subwoofer. They were a decent starter set, but no longer meet my needs. I am finishing the process of completely replacing it with individual pieces of far higher quality.

Well, I suppose we'll chock it up to naivete and I'll add you back as a friend.

I'm proud to say that I learned all about HDMI before I actually needed one, so I didn't fall into the Monster trap. I'll admit, though, that I do have several Monster audio and component cables in my 'stash' that I bought before I found Audioquest cables that performed identically (to me) for 1/3 the price.

Only 2 major regrets I have are purchasing the polk sub (and trying to make it better by purchasing a 2nd one ) and buying a front row with 3 seats instead of 4

Pretty much everything else has been a delight

I regret selling my Sony 46" W3800 LCD TV in December 08' for a Samsung 46" A650 LCD TV just to have a 120 HZ set that had motion enhancer. I never use it and the Sony looks just as good as the Sammy. If I could do it over again, I should have gotten a new front projector at that time.....instead I waited another 10 months and then got the front projector anyway....thus I wasted money by getting rid of the Sony for the Sammy....I know better now, but unfortunately not then.
