Get a mac...

Ok, just playing. Do you happen to have file sharing turned on? This is turned off by default in Vista.

Hey, I have my PS3 connected to Vista just fine; so it must be a configuration issue. Don't forget, Vista comes with enhanced security, so check all your security settings.

at least in Windows Media Player 11, you can turn sharing on. Not being a Vista owner (it'll be a cold day in hell), I was able to easily use WMP11 to share files to the PS3 from a WinXP Professional PC.

The downside is sharing most video formats. The secret here is to just rename the extension to something WMP and the PS3 can both recognize, such as .mpg. This works for sharing AVCHD video from my HD video cam.

Mine is working fine with Vista. Just turn your file sharing on (Start-> Control Panel-> Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Center), turn Media Sharing on and have the PC allows the PS3 access on the Network in the Media sharing window .
Good Luck!
