Need helping finding a movie

Ok, it's a B-movie, a sci-fi/horror movie. All I remember is that it took place in like this underwater cave. There was a submarine and in the cave, there was like this machine where if someone was put in, they would turn into these creatures or change.

There was also this fungus or bacteria that one couldn't get on themselves. For instance, the cook gets some on him so they lock him in a room and let him die. The captain of the ship is a respected actor too and I can't think who he is.

Anyone know?
