I saw this in the theatres because my son is a big fan. Trust me, this is a rental first. Do not blind buy this movie. It is Harry Potter lite.

I missed the movie in the theater as well.

I read all 5 books in a matter of 6 weeks and a lady I work with did go see it in the theater.

She said as a movie, it’s good, but as a comparison to the book, not so much.

It strays quite a bit from the book I guess.

I tend to like movies like this anyway so I’ll probably end up buying it if the price is right during release week.

I was beyond dissapointed in this. I loved the books. The movie was absolutly nothing like the book. Major characters that play big parts in the sequels were totally omitted, and there were major plot changes, there is no way they can follow the series now.

If you enjoyed the book at all, more than likely you'll hate the movie. One of the worst adaptations of a book, if not the worst, I've ever seen. With that being said, even if I hadn't read the book I wouldn't have liked this movie. The acting is not good and the effects are sub G.I. Joe. I definitely think anyone should rent this before buying.

I saw this and it was better than Harry Potter IMO. Better action scenes but the characters are more likeable in HP.

It is basically a Harry Potter movie with Greek Mythology so if you blind buy it keep that in mind.

Default Percy Jackson - worth a blind buy?

Comes out June 22nd and I'm kind of on the fence about this one. On one hand, I'm a sucker for these big fun fantasy movies. On the other, I'm wondering if it might be one of those flicks I watch once and then never again.

Anyone seen it?

Personally it depends. In my opinion. It is a story about Greek mythology, BUT from a teen perspective. So.... if you like Greek mythology, and can handle a bit of a teen/hero story line. Sure you'll enjoy it. ON the other hand.....If your sick of teen driven story's then I'd pass..... then again you can just wait for others to chime in and get their thougths on the whole thing. SO you have a few different options. hope I helped

By the way I enojyed it and my kids enjoyed it so Yea I'll be picking it up.

I don't know, this is a book series and the 1st (only?) movie didn't do well at the box office so this may be a one off film that will never be continued. Personally, I will rent and wait for an announcement of the next film if there will be one.

If you haven't read the books I suppose there is a slight chance you might enjoy the movie. My daughters and I read a few of the books prior to seeing the movie and we were very disappointed. The movie has nothing in common with the books. With that being said, even if I hadn't read the books I would have hated this movie. The acting was bad, the special effects were poor, and the movie is aimed squarely at the grade school crowd. I would recommend renting before buying.
