Angry Why No Official Review of Avatar from any Major Site?

Blu-ray.com
bluray.highdefdigest.com
Avsforum.com

None of them has review in one or perhaps the biggest blu-ray release (avatar) just making no sense for me? Is it because studio didn't send them any advance copy?

Reviews of any type could only hurt the initial sales on a movie like Avatar, where virtually most of the interested population has already seen it. Fox likely wanted to pre-empt all the negative reviews that are going to emphasize the presence of no extras, and the recommendation to hold off for the loaded edition coming in November. Fox wants to sell this movie to you again and again.

It's unbelievable how impatient people are for an official review. It is also unbelievable that this question has been answered about 1,056 times in the official Avatar thread, if you pretty much read any 2 random pages of the 164+ you will see the answer at least a few times, lol.

Because I guess no one wants to review it. That's the only explanation. This "Fox didn't send out review copies" is total nonsense. Many people were able to obtain early copies. Even if they couldn't, they could've easily picked one up this morning and write a review.

I'm a little disappointed in this site. Apparently, they think a movie like "Armageddon" is more worthy of a review than "Avatar."

Well, the review for Armageddon is more worthy (at least to me) than Avatar. Helped me decide if I am going to double dip and replace my DVD. With Avatar, I'm buying it either way despite an official review or not. I'm going to go out on a limb here in addition and say that I would bet 90% or MORE of blu-ray.com users are going to be purchasing Avatar with/without an official review as well because they want to see it for themselves.

I'm the opposite. I saw Armageddon and don't need a review to decide on how good it is. I never saw Avatar and am considering a blind buy. So, do I blind buy a barebones release of a movie for over $20? Ah! That's a question I'd like a reviewer to answer for me. So, let's hope a review comes up soon. I really need one or else I'm going to die. I hope Blu-ray.com doesn't let me die.

Don't shoot me. I was just answering the OP's question. There's a difference between being disappointed and angry. I'm still happy at Blu-ray.com

I was more referring to if the PQ/AQ is a big step up from the DVD, which the review enlightened me on, and in this case, definitely sounds like Armageddon will be a double dip Shoot...who hasn't seen Armageddon at this point?

Believe me, if Blu-ray.com had the title prior they would have reviewed it before Armageddon...Remember there are numerous site reviewers here and they have assigned studios. Fox doesnt send early screeners also, That doesnt help.

Believe me and this is not official, but a reviewer somewhere is working on this now with a retail copy, Ill guarantee it lets just say dvd beaver has it and they havent posted a review because the encryption nipped them, no screenies

Well, also to answer your other question, if you read even a fraction of the reviews from other users on how they feel about their copy, you will be buying this bare bones release, and I would tend to bet the official review is going to mirror that conclusion, but we'll see some time soon.

User reviews are partial. Blu-ray.com's official reviews are impartial and I like impartial reviews.

I understand, but with user reviews counting easily over 100+ in the official thread all saying the same thing... there is some merit there.

Right, because people who have seen it can clearly not have a valid opinion.

Correct. Because seeing it in the theater is frequently a much different viewing experience than seeing it in the home.

Yeah, except for the fact that if you actually read the official thread, you would see that people are reviewing after having watched their 2D copies.... there is literally pages and pages of discussions on the official blu-ray release and how that looks, not the theatrical version.
