is madden worth it this year?

first off i want to know if you can create a team and second i want to know if there is a fantasy draft in franchise mode... other than that is it worth the 60 dollars that i will have to drop or am i better off with a copy of 07?

The ps3 madden 08 is completely different than the ps2 version which is much better. The ps3 version is a slower game with better graphics, but less control functions. The difference between the two games is like night and day. I bought the ps3 version and took it back the next day and got a full cash refund (gamestop). Madden and Michales aren't even on the ps3 version...insted there's some generic sounding voice calling the game and it's actually more annoying than madden/michaels. Im going to go exclusively with the ps2 version on the ps3 untill ea can make a ps3 version of this game that follows suit of the ps2 version. it's pretty f'd up that it has to be this way.

Think about what you're saying for a second...boycotting the franchise just will help prove EA Sports...if they don't sell any PS3 versions, and tons of Xbox 360 versions, then why would they do anything to add to the PS3 experience.

I own the game on PS3 - its a great improvemet over last years version. I have also played the Xbox 360 version - and if a difference is there, it is minimal...small enough if you didn't see on a blog/article that there is the 30 fps/60 fps issue you wouldn't even know it.

Boycotting games on the PS3 is not the way you're going to get games ported over to the console, or exclusive content, any time soon.

I told myself if a game was available on 260 & ps3 I would buy the ps3 version. I also told myself I wouldn't buy anything on HDDVD that was also available on Blu-ray (I own both).

However,

With this years Madden (if I were to buy it) I would probably get the 360 version based on all the bad press of the 30fps ps3 version.

I do have a question though....the previous years Madden games on say XBOX & ps2, how many FPS were/are they? They seemed fine as far as gameplay was concerned where they 60 or 30fps?

Let me say to anyone who isn't a frothing Madden fan, this is a great looking and fun game. It seems to run smooth and fast enough to me. If there was no story about the FPS its doubtful that most people would even notice or care. If you want a good football game that uses the NFL teams and players I would say don't deprive yourself by boycotting the PS3 version.

I don't see how boycotting the PS3 version is accomplishing anything other than lower PS3 sales and how is that helping prove anything to EA? Its not like they released a piece of crap thats not worthy of being played, its just not 100% "equal" to the 360 but its still worth the purchase IMO. Its in EA's interest to keep improving their games for PS3 and they will.

Buy it, have fun and don't loose sleep over not having the best version of a game.

EA doesn't just look at their own sales figures, they look at the numbers of other developers as well as SCEA's. Anybody can read the quarterly SEC fillings and listen in on the conference calls. Not to mention the independent sales trackers.

Boycotting Madden is just that, it's not boycotting the PS3 as a whole.

If they see that other games on the PS3,which aren't inferior to the 360 version (Call of Duty 4 by Activision), are selling well, then they'll see the folly of their decision to be lazy in development.

Buying all the games that come out for the PS3 regardless of quality won't help the natural selection of a western capitalist market economy.

im not buying another EA PS3 game until they get their act together.....NCAA 08 was the same way, total crap....sold it on ebay already and bought Oblivion instead to last me till Guitar Hero III
