Madden Jinx To Be Imposed Later In The Year?

Typically, our decisions regarding the stories that we share in this space are driven by a fairly simple question — is it something that we’d be interested in if we were in the audience?

When it comes to stories about the depressingly stagnant Madden video game franchise and the ridiculous notion that a jinx applies to the person who appears on the cover of the game, we’re not interested.

But based upon the comments we’ve seen posted on the subject, plenty of you are.

And so we’ll make an exception to our normal rule and point out that SportsBusiness Journal reports (via Sporting News Today) that Electronic Arts might not announce http://today.sportingnews.com/sporti...nA2B&folio=CGI the player who will be on the cover of the 2010 edition of the game during the weekend of the 2009 draft.

Frankly, the EA folks would be wiser to devote some of the money spent on the cover athlete and the broader marketing efforts to improving the game. It’s simply not as good as it used to be, and more and more people are figuring that out.

yeah, i used to buy this game every year, but decided to not buy the last two because it just hasnt gotten any better the last few years, they really need to do some work on it, especially the online mode options

last years was really good....best in like 5 years...


here's my suggestion to EA....take 1-2 years off....completely revamp the game....make it so good that it will last 3-4 more years, but, every year release updates via the online networks for new rosters, rookies, coaches and so on...I think they would make more money in the long run...

with they way Madden sells, i would go with that they are going to shovel it till it doesnt sell...

yeah...Madden will always sell good no matter what they do to it...which is why they make little to no improvements year to year..

too bad theyll purposely screw something up then in next years ed they go "its an improvement" look at madden 08 the o-line was a piece of crap and they fixed it, and they added in horrible rocket catch and they said they fixed it this year when it was never a problem.

in order to get a madden game out year after year they have to start on the following year two weeks after the release of the current year. Unless they take a season or two off and just update rosters, team schedules, coaches, etc etc then we won't ever see anything better. To be honest, last year was the first year I didn't even play through ONE season EVER in my 12 years buying madden games. I was completely disgusted with it.
