Dear folks,
I ve 2 options to place my PS3 since I dont have any lack of place problem. I downloaded the FW 1.90 now, and noticed that in the horizontal position it really makes noise and generates too much heat. Even my hands get burn after it is in use of 1 hr. So I would like to place it in vertical but I ve some concerns. In vertical position, will I have any disc-reading problems? Because disc will not properly placed or dont have enough resistance I guess. Also I need to put it on 3rd floor of my desk to have anough space but this time it will be staying next to my center focal speaker and just be underneath of my X2000 lcd tv. Do you think because of those magnetic waves and maybe due to sound from the center speaker , will I have some problems? Or maybe when its in use I may place in vertical position , when in peace,I place it horizontal, possible? If you can advice I ll be glad... Thx... from Turkey...! |

i've been using my ps3 vertically and have yet to experience any kind of problem. definitely no disc reading/registering errors - the ps3's drive seems to have a very firm grip on the disc when you insert it. i would be surprised if the magnetic waves from speakers disrupt the ps3's operation. those would have to be some pretty impressive, blasting-clothes-off-the-girl caliber speakers. |

I have mine on the floor vertically under one of my surround speakers to the side of my tv. It is MY opinion that the PS3 needs to sit off on it's own. I have a lot of heat throwing components (reciever, TV, Power Conditioner, etc.) and the PS3 is a monster heat generator. I have had 0 issues with mine this way.

well, I am worried about the heat generated in ps3 components only , fan noise does not bother me too much, but of course when heats up , the more noise generated, true..so reducing heat anyhow, will also help reducing fan level..
I will try to use it vertical position, if you really dont have any problems when using it next to lcd tv and a speaker, then its worth to try at least!! my concern then only will be my little girl ![]() hmm.. looks and needs some efforts lol.... but really doesnt anybody think that magnetic waves will effect ps3 ? or vertically reading dics will not create any problem? |

ask anyone who had a PS2. If you mounted your PS2 vertically it lasted longer. I had my first PS2 last for 7 years mounted vertically. No problems with disc reads, no problems with heat. I have had my PS3 vertically mounted since I bought it. You will be fine. If you notice any sort of problems with your screen obviously you should move it but I am 99% certain you will be fine.
