Default The time is upon Fox to unleash the force!

I do believe it is time for Fox, Disney, Sony, Columbia, Lions Gate to step up. How about for starters release Lord of the Rings and then crush HDDUD with Star Wars in all of its Blu-ray 1080p dual trilogy glory. They want war then war is what they will get. Nothing Paramount has even holds a candle to these titles. Long live Blu!

Actually, The Godfather, Chinatown and Raiders of the Lost Arc are better, IMO. Not as much eyecandy, but as films go, these are top notch and it will be very painful to see them released on HD DVD, should that happen.

No worries about Raiders. It was directed by Spielberg, and the Paramount/Dreamworks deal SPECIFICALLY excludes Spielberg's films from exclusivity.

If Indy comes (next year probably) then Paramount will need to release it on both formats.

Alas, all we'd get is a port I suspect.

As for the general public goes I do believe that Star Wars and LOTR has a more recent long term impression on the public that would help generate a massaive Blu-ray migration.

If the public is reading up on this about-face, then they'll know about the US$150 million payoff to get Paramount and Dreamworks Animation to go HD-DVD. They're not gonna like that.

Sony, Disney and Fox are still behind BD firmly. It's gonna be very interesting the next 18 months. I have a feeling that Universal's exclusivity is going to end soon.

your right i think it is time to go all out it seems microsoft just keeps getting their hands wrapped around more and more... but fox really has no say with anything to do with star wars...they distribute it at the mercy of lucasfilm.

As good as that idea sounds, Lucas isn't putting Star Wars out until it's clear which is side is winning. LOTR is another story; it's up to New Line/Warner when that will happen.

The general knowledge is that Lucas is holding out on Star Wars until further notice.

What the blu studios need to do is go over their recent catalogs, see what the top grossing films they have access to are, and, without delay but not doing rush-jobs, remaster them all in hi-def using maximum bitirate AVC, prepare lossless PCM soundtracks, and print them on BD50s. It's time to bring the fight back to the HPG, but we'll fight their evil with good; concentrate on bringing content to our side as opposed to destroying content from the other.

Lucas is all about money...that $150M woulda been better spent getting him to put out Star Wars on HD-DVD than on paramount...if the price is right I bet he'd release it on Blu-Ray...
