Default How about starting a pool? (Toshiba Blu bets)

Why don't we take a shot at predicting the month and year that Toshiba throws in the towel and bows to Blu-ray?

I'll start it. Sept. 2008.

they'll never stop making it. But I imagine they'll end their artifical price point eventually and we'll see prices stagnate for the equipment. Realistically I think we'll see sub-100$ blu-ray players before we see sub-100$ HD VD players as the natural market based pricing on blu-ray lends to eventual high volume/low cost.

It's the reason why Blu-ray costs about the same for the same features as HD VD while it was once more expensive.

Well if there was money on the line, I'd say " never " - that way there's a bright side no matter what happens hehe.

But as there isn't, well first what do we consider "throwing in the towel"... Toshiba *producing* a blu-ray player perhaps?

I'll go with May 2009.

They will never admit defeat only retirement of the product line.

Last week it was Jan. 2008
Now I'd say Mid - 2009. We'll say June, 2009.

I don't think Toshiba will ever make a Blu-ray player.

Well money is the bottom line and WHEN bd becomes the new standard even
they'll want some cash as to bowing out they might do it sooner if bda gives em
royalitys on the players they produce so i'd say april-june 08.

Even sooner if sony brings out TRANSFORMERS @ $19.99 DAY N DATE to the new movie. Classic transformers vs. reimagined bring it on.

That would leave shrek 3 by far the worst shrek yet as both formats would have a TRANSFORMER movie and hd-dud would most definatly cost more being new!

I still enjoyed shrek 3 but it was 2 small plots in 1 big movie that didn't work as well because both previous shreks were just a single big movie.

Shrek 4 is supposed to hit in may 2010 and the FINAL potter movie is supposed to be out that summer as well.
