Default CRT Projection Question

A buddy of mine bought a PS3 couple days ago for his 52" Toshiba Tv (51H84) Its 3-4 years old I believe and does 540p or 1080i resolutions.

We watched Casino Royale on it after we setup the PS3 with the latest software update.

He was very upset to see he now has a line that flows from bottom to the top steady. During colour images its not as noticeable but on black screen you can see it alot. He using Sony Component cables as DVI wouldn't allow sound through..... We have tried everything we can think of to get rid of this.... Any ideas of what it is and how to get rid of it ?

I believe its from the scanning in the tv.... Could it be response time is too slow ? Like I said the tv is older about 3 years now I think.

Any feedback would be great, he plans on upgrading to 1080p L.C.D. in the future but it would be nice to make this one sweet for the time being while he saves for a while.

Thanks

does he have an HDMI reciever? you could go HDMI to reciever and then HDMI-DVI cable to TV.

also, to help you out with the problem...check this thread out, I believe it may help him out.

Horizontal Bars, Buzzing Sound, etc? Look here...

hope it helps.
