Exclamation OFFICIAL worldwide Blu-ray "Sharing is Caring" house party day: Friday, Nov 2nd

Listen. The masses are ignorant. Poll after poll proves this. Paramount's bait and switch (they took the bait and switched) is only propagating the indecision. Marketing can only do so much. I myself am a skeptic at heart. I don't listen to what's preached at me. I need to weigh the facts and experience it for myself before I jump into any decision. That's how I came to Blu-ray anyway. No marketing scheme. No TV ad. Plain and simple, my friends (with facts), not the BDA, brought me to Blu-Ray (via the PS3) and now, it's time that I do the same (on a larger scale). Our families and our friends need our help. The BDA needs our help. Without us, the consumer, Blu-Ray is nothing. Every BD purchase we make is a vote. That's why our participation in the Tuesday September 18th Blu-Ray Buy-a-Thon Day is so important. But after we've bought our discs...then what? I say we throw a little Blu-Ray house warming party for our friends and families on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd. The latest player profile updates should be in full swing, Spidey will be out (amongst other notable Fox releases) and more importantly, it will be just in time for the holidays. Time to butter people up for what their gift buying should include. So here's the down low:

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd: It very well may be just another day, but on this day, we'll all be doing it together. So invite your friends and family over for a Blu-Ray movie party night. Pick something that is WOW material. Bust out the popcorn. The candy. The soda... beer...whatever. Roll out the red carpet. And lets do a little shameless Blu light promotion. Together.

Are you in or are you IN? (please post your rsvp)

Now for your ideas on how to make this night work - Take pictures and post 'em the day after? Promotional flyers? Give-a-ways (at our own cost...which is what I'm fully planning on doing). What?

Ridiculous or not, I don't care. I'm doing this because I totally believe in this format and I'm thankful for what it's given me. I love cinema and I want the world to be able to experience it the way I do in my home!

What say you?

2 of my friends bought PS3's in the last week after they came over and watched Apocalypto, played Ninja Gaiden, and watched like 30 trailers I have saved on my PS3.

I do stuff like this all the time. I'm always trying to spread the word about Blu.

ha ha...well being that time is relative because of zoning.... it doesn't matter really. i'll be throwing mine at 6pm Pacific Standard Time. BBQ and a Movie...
even if i'm the only one doing this (and it appears i have a few more friends who will be too) - i'm stoked on it.

This is ridiculous (for me), but nevertheless a great idea. That way, you promote BD to other people. I just unfortunately can't do it. Got depression and don't like noise (except noises from movies/music). I might invite my close friends (two or three maximum)

I'm in... and I know exactly who I'll invite. There are 2 friends that are already blu... and two that are sitting on the fence! That'll make for a nice little shindig!

Rup.

that's who i'm inviting. its not going to be a big production over here by any means....it'll just be like any other movie night with friends. only it will be at my house, with my hdtv and blu-ray as opposed to the hdtv connected to a sd dvd player that belongs to my other friend or 90% of the other households with tube tvs and vcrs my aim is to get peoples feet wet and have a platform to inform them of whats out there...and yeah, this is ridiculous to me too But it'll be fun and what does it hurt? nothing. just an opportunity to tell my friends about blu-ray like my friends at work did for me.

I think it's a great idea, but maybe a little late? Why wait 3 months?

Also the main thing is the date is after the start of the Christmas shopping season. Near the end of October may be better?

you know...i was thinking that nov might be a little late. i was just thinking of the best time to warm people up to blu-ray for christmas....actually....the hamster wheel is turning in my head....yes, you are right. it is too late.... how about early november? the 2nd? due to the release of spiderman (Oct 30th), etc.

No anti-social here! I think that's a really good idea. In fact, just last week I invited 2 co-workers over to my house to demo my home theater setup. Naturally I popped in some of my best looking BD's (The Patriot, Casino Royale). They were so wow'd by the quality, that both of them went out right afterwards and bought PS3's! It felt good to spread the word. I'm constantly preaching blu-ray to my friends and family. Sometimes i feel like a spokesman!

But this is a great idea and always looking for a good reason to throw a little house party.

exactly. thats what i would like to do. even though i do it every so often i think it would be neat if everyone banded together to do it on the same day with the same purpose. there is no harm here. only good can come from it. even if its doing what you always do....whats one more 'party' going to hurt? the timing is perfect. it'll just be a party that everyone is else is throwing too. there are so many people who don't know about blu-ray. influence just 1 and that person will influence another and the domino effect ensues.
