Glory Review

So i just finished the movie and i noticed it didnt have a discussion thread.
Here's my official review!

GLORY

Unforgettable, and Authentic Performances and of course a story worth knowing/telling

It took me a while to pop this treat in but now i see why this movie is among the greatest. Everyone played their roles incredibly, i was even able to get into Matthew Broderick's role. I dont have the right words to describe Denzel Washington (Best Supporting Actor) and Morgan Freeman, a simple way to describe it is certain scenes i didnt blink nor breath . I cant disagree anymore about the award Denzel Washington received for his amazing acting, in addition this movie brings a strong message to those a are open minded enough to receive it.
This movie was truly a treat and a MUST OWN

i actually watched this a couple days ago. didn't like the movie but the blu-ray is above average for a catalog release. safe to get if you enjoy it.

I was in the same boat as you bud, i had it for a while but i didnt really have the need nor urge to see a movie about this civil war but after viewing it i was simply amazed

One of my favorites. Owned the VHS and DVD and bought the BD as soon it was released. I would rate both the PQ and AQ to be 8/10.

Quite a difference folks especially in colors and clarity. I'll definitely be getting the 4K release.

Is this worth upgrading to the new 4k version? It looks like the only difference is the new version is a bit brighter. Couldn't I just make my television set brighter to get the same affect? I have the previous version. I was going to hold off on Ghostbusters after hearing that the difference is mostly negligible. If the overall difference is negligible here too, I might hold off on Glory as well, or at least wait until it drops in price. I got Ghostbusters for $5 and Glory for $5, both at BB during an upgrade and save sale. Will the new version be in stores?

Does the new version of Glory come with any extras? Ghostbusters dropped the extras from the 4k version.

Just finished watching Glory and like Ghostbusters, which I watched last night, it truly benefits from this 4K transfer.

Agreed. Have to say that GLORY, GHOSTBUSTERS and SPIDERMAN (2002) are all fantastic looking BDs. Until we have the true 4k versions, these are about as good as we can ever hope to see.

For the upmillionth time that I've never understood, you do NOT need a 4K player or 4K TV to view these, correct?

That is correct. They are no different than any other 1080p BD.

These screenshots look fantastic. I don't own Glory, so I'm going to pick this up at the right price.

Be advised that this 4K master release does not have any of the extras found on the 2009 BD.

I can't say I like Sony's superbit BD policy. I don't own the movie on BD yet either, however zilch extras is not exactly the way to go here.

the National Gallery of Art here in Washington is having a DC premier of the 'digital restoration' (which I assume they mean the recent 4K scan/transfer) in DCP form with an introduction and discussion with director Ed Zwick (Sept. 15)

Just watched Glory on the 2009 Blu. Great film...though, as has probably been said, the PQ on this Blu varies from being extremely sharp, to being just OK (though it's better than regular DVD).

Haven't checked out the 4K version yet, but it sounds like that's an improvement on the Blu, which is good to hear...

The mastered in 4K release is noticeably better in terms of color saturation and fine detail for sure.
