Arrow Despicable Me 2

Was on IMDB and found that. I saw the first film back on Friday at the dollar theater. Thought it was a cute kids movie.

I thought the first movie was charming enough, but definitely overrated.

I can't wait! Rarely do I like an animated movie other than Pixar's!

Javier Bardem is in negotiations to play villain 'El Macho'
Quote:
Javier Bardem is in negotiations to voice a new villain in Despicable Me 2, the sequel to Universal and Illumination’s surprise 2010 hit.

Carell and most of the other players from the first movie are expected to return but the new plot, being kept under wraps, calls for a new villain, who has a son of his own.

Bardem would voice the baddie, whose name is El Macho. (His son’s name is Machito.) While the actor, and newly minted father, has played many villains on-screen -- Bardem won an Oscar for playing sociopathic hitman Anton Chigurh in 2007's No Country For Old Men -- this would make his first turn, evil or otherwise, in the animation world.

Universal has set a July 3, 2012 release for Despicable Me 2, which is being directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud.

"Despicable Me" was a pleasant surprise for a non-Pixar animated film. While I wouldn't call it great, I certainly thought it was a very fun film. Hopefully this will be a decent sequel.

Me 2, but I loved Despicable Me, it was an unexpected surprise!
Here's hoping the 2nd is just as good.

I thought the first one was awesome. I'm glad to see a sequel coming. I hope it's as good as the first one.

Javier Bardem Passes On Despicable Me Sequel

Quote:
Apparently one villainous role is enough for Javier Bardem as of late. While the Oscar-winning actor continues to film the latest James Bond movie, Skyfall -- where he has been cast as Daniel Craig’s chief opponent – THR reports that Bardem has bowed out of the animated sequel Despicable Me 2.

It was reported months ago that Bardem was contemplating voicing El Macho, an evil genius who has sons – in much the same way that Steve Carell’s character, Gru, has daughters. Their parenting problems would pair the evil geniuses, though plot details beyond this bit of character information remains a mystery.

Not a major concern for me. Having a recognizable name doing the voice work can be a double-edged sword (not so much in Javier's case), plus, it can't be that hard to find a voice actor to fill the vacated seat.

Ah hah!!!!!!!

I just figured out why I liked the animation for this so much. It was done by the French CGI studio Mac Guff, who also did Dragon Hunters, which was awesome. And Illumination Entertainment has now bought Mac Guff.

Same here. While I'm sure he is a good actor, this doesn't bother me at all. Finding a replacement will be fairly easy.
