Question Is Blu-ray all about the USA ?

I´m wondering because, if Blu-ray would win the format war in the USA,

Would Blu going to win everywhere ?

I´m a litte confused about situations here in Europe,... for example:

"Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer" = FOX
but here, the movie gets another supporting source, so it´ll come out on HDDVD as well...

If Blu-ray is successful in the US, would it be over then ?

Thnx.

Yeah, when it comes to the HDTV market, everything is about the US. We have the biggest "middle class"--a sector where every mass-marketed product in the world vies for market share.

Blu is already winning handily in Europe and Japan. North America is the only hope HDDVD has.

Just because Blu-ray wins in the US doesn't mean they will win everywhere. I saw some beta-max tapes for sale in the Philippines last year.

As has been said before, Blu-ray is doing WAY better than HD-DVD in all markets outside of the US.

Blu-ray winning the US doesn't NECESSARILY mean that it would win everywhere else, but it would have a large influence. Betamax was still very successful in Japan until only a few years ago.

But if blu wins in the US that means it's already won everywhere else.

Look at the lack of sales the Xbox had in japan vs. the PS3. It's clear that the US is the only market that is dealing with this junk at this large of a scale.

I think all great Film Studios are in the US, and if almost everyone of them choose Blu-ray...

this should be the victory...

As much asI love the Philippines (I have been many many times - LOVE Boracay and Cebu, and have even spent time in San Miguel) --- the fact is that they have fully adopted VHS and VCD. Unfortunately they did make a poor choice in supporting Betamax, however, my opinion is that they are more Anglicized in embracing the culture of the USA.

Who is this "other supporting source"? And are you sure it will be out on HDDVD in Germany? It's the first time I hear this. (Not that I don't believe you, but would like to see some confirmation).

These studios are called "Highlight" / "Concorde"
maybe some more also, but im not sure...

These two are on a neutral position, and have the rights to distribute them.
That´s why we can have "12 monkeys" on Blu-ray also...

(i heard that this title is only available in HDDVD in the US )

and yes, "FF: RotSS" will be out on HDDVD as well as the "Saw" movies, "Silent Hill" and some others, who are actually supposed to be "BRD - ONLY"
