Drives based on the Panasonic SW-5584 are pretty easy to find. Both Sony and Buffalo are using it.

The Pioneer BDR-203 has also started to ship in the US and the LG BH08 should be shipping soon as well.

Blu-ray drives are big ticket items. Not a lot of retailers are going to stock them as consumers aren't likely to drop $300 on one yet. I'd shop online. You'll have a better selection and prices are usually better.

Yeah, for me, I'm waiting for either 8x or 16x at least, since I have 16x for dvd burner

You can't compare the "x" speeds like that as the baseline is completely different between the formats. 8x BD is 36MB/sec. 16x DVD is 22.16MB/sec (and only gets to that speed at the VERY outer edge of the disc). I don't believe its currently possible to get 16x BD (even at the very outer edge) as there's the small problem of the disc breaking apart and flying into multiple directions at such an insanely high spin speed.

All that just to say... get an 8x BD burner. PLENTY FAST. And potential 10 and 12x burners (if they come out) will only reach those speeds at the very outside of the disc... making the real speed difference MUCH smaller.
