sorry for sounding daft but i am new to this forum and joined to show my support for blu ray after paramount had decided to join hd dvd, the paramount deal says that they cant release any steven speilberg film does this mean universal cant release his films either, and does it mean blu ray can release his films by universal if speilberg decides to go blu ray.

Universal and Paramount need to agree to a release title before anything gets the go ahead. So both SS and the Studio need to work together to get out anything from SS. But this is where the problem is, SS does not want to be a partnership with anything Universal or Paramount do due to a fall out years ago so these movies are left in limbo while contracts run out between SS and the studios run out.

Thats my take on the situation anyway.

At present Close Encounters is the only SP movie being released on high def format and we'll have to wait for the rest.
