To me lately it has really gotten to a point where the HD-DVD fanboys are talking way more about Blu-Ray than HD-DVD. Too me it seems that deep down inside these HD-DVD zealots wished they were Blu-Ray owners. I really feel bad for Amir since he is really a lousy representative for such a huge corp. in M$. He can't stop saying BD or Blu-Ray. With the talk about BD-50 being science fiction I can't stop to think how low can they go. With their crappy Dual format discs that are crappy and even stopping people from buying those discs because people that own HD-DVD have ran into problems with those discs that should have a better quality control check.

And perhaps Amir has some really huge stock options and/or incentives tied into whether he succeeds in derailing the Blu-ray Express?

Toshiba is basically locked together with Microsoft through the Zune and HD DVD. That is hardly going to change until the very end of the "war" when they capitulate.
Samsung makes the iPod shuffle for Apple whilst competing directly with them. Other iPods and the iPhone are made by Foxconn. Interestingly, they also manufacture a lot of other stuff: Among other things, Foxconn produces the Mac mini, the iPod and the iPhone for Apple Computer; Intel-branded motherboards for Intel Corp.; various orders for American computer retailers Dell, Inc. and Hewlett Packard; the Xbox 360 for Microsoft; the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 for Sony; the Wii for Nintendo, and cell phones for Motorola.[1][2] - from Wikipedia. |

This is no surprise. I've worked at Blockbuster for five years and I've seen a lot of damaged discs. BY FAR the ones that get DAMAGED the most are DUAL SIDED discs (either FF/WS or film/features). It's not because there are two sides vulnerable to damage. It's that the players damage the top side by making a ring just inside the edge. So watching one side damages the other. It's idiotic why they still make dual sided discs. Sure is nice to have 25 gig on one side while HD can barely squeeze 15. |
