I liked this comment:

"Disney movies r for kids. Anyway Transformers will even things up."

As if Transformers were cultured entertainment for the opera set. Lots of people say this as if POTC and hundreds of other Disney/BV movies didn't exist.

Sounds like the comment that PS3 owners don't buy and watch movies on their system.

I went back thru and read the comments more closely. I am actually suprised that they don't have much to say on this matter. The hooker comment is a low blow, but it did come from a new member over there.

Well they don't, right? But you still should include all PS3s when calculating attach rates though.

This was also a good one.

I see, those are all disney movies. It makes sense that they would do something like this for the release of transformers. Disney's CEO is like a sworn enemy of HD DVD. Bluray must be buying him hookers or something.

Sad thing is, they prolly think Transformers really will do all that well. It won't cause WB shows that the sales would triple if it was on both formats. It will suffer BIG TIME cause it only has 1/3 of the HD market to sell to.

Its ashame that they are clinging on to one week like this. Even if Transformers does manange to pull out a win this week for HD-DVD, what about the other 51 weeks this year?

I find it funny that anymore it seems like they are just trying to say that HD-DVD can remain a viable option...

I feel really bad for them actually...

Being HD-DVD exclusive is by far the worst decision you can possibly make, atleast when you are Bluray exclusive you still get great movies from Disney, Sony, and Fox.

I can live without Transformers in HD, but to miss out on Die Hard 1-4 with loseless audio would be awful.

My favorite quote (so far), because blu-ray is a person who buys things.

There is also some "pot calling the kettle black" here.

In general they fail to see that this big opportunity is really more of huge opportunity to fail. If the only powerhouse blockbuster exclusive they have fails to dominate this single week, then it will be impossible to ignore. Then Spidey 3 and the neverending parade of big BD hits will sweep up whatever mess is left. Lots of folks on here are too close to the issue and too worried about the results to see it clearly. I really think there are some 75/25 weeks coming in the near future. 75/25 is devastating in an event that is being described as a war... is the tomato versus the steamroller a war?

Don't feel bad for them at all over there on the other side.

Think back to all of the lies and deception and spin that group has put on and against Blu. They will continue to do this until the war is over. Unfortunate that this has had to go on for so long, but I for one cannot wait to see what the biggest HD-DVD supporters have to say when the dust settles and they have to eat crow and actually start being a Blu supporter.

It's true what I read here once: hddvd loyalists are like those people that put their hands in their ears and scream "la la la la" when presnted with hard truth.
So the new movie Tranformers might take #1 this week, but blu-ray might wind up taking 70%-90% of high def media sales this week.
