United Kingdom Double/Triple Play Packaging

Proves to be popular according to this.

Which, unfortunately, means more packaging like this...

Lots of really dumb things are popular. I don't like it because it adds loads of manufacturing cost which means a higher expense for the buyer.

All I can do is wait for the price to drop.

Also consider those people who have commented work within the industry or for it so will lie and kill you if they think they'll keep their jobs. It's marketing.

The movie Splice, released recently, has a slipcover with double play on it but the box doesn't. I usually like slips, but I'd probably put that one in storage.

I hate double/triple play banners, but like included DVD copies.

I can confirm these designs, saw them instore today.

I bet if they'd asked us they would have had a different response... But I have to admit it's confusing to the average buyer so the big banners are here to stay. Maybe the banner could be a removable sticker (not like the Warner ones)? And it baffles me why a title with a slipcase and the banner has the same banner on the smaller cover inside when they take up so much room. I was one of the unlucky ones who bought a slimcase Iron Man 2 the banners and spine for which are quite simply awful.

I personally like them and the cases dont mind me much they usually have a slip cover but i agree the triple/double play banners gota be removable at least! bugs me aswell that they hav a disc holder for digital copies and aftr u use it theres no need to keep it anymore! have it in a wee slip in the case that u can dispose of when your done!

I don't have THAT much of a problem with those banners, but it can spoil great packaging, for example Splice. I'm all in favour of removing them, though.

I think it wastes so much space on artwork. It's like Universal and Sony used to have those HD banners top and bottom of their releases. They should just put a sticker on like the WB releases saying what formats the release comes with, that way you know what your getting and also you can peal it right off!

Sadly as the article states the average buyer appreciates the banners. As my Dad once asked "the covers blue on that one, is it a blu-ray?" to which I replied "no Dad it's Jake from Avatar".

We're lucky to have any coverart at all really...

I bought that today and can forgive it, simply because it's only on the slipcase. No mention whatsoever on the actual cover, so I could technically bin the slapcase and give the DVD to someone, without OCD kicking in.
