The latest FUD: Sony fakes BR demo?

As expected, this is being bandied about like unquestioned gospel on at least one very prominent forum that's been overrun by Microsoft, at least unoffically.

See what you all make of all of this. I certainly think this is a complete fake myself and I wouldn't be half surprised if MS themselves paid to set this thing up and plant it.

Who'd you think you were fooling, Sony? You go throw some big huge party celebrating the 10 year birthday of the Vaio and the launch of the Vaio UX Micro PC and your new flagship Blu-ray playing AR series 17-inch powerhouse laptop, replete with demo of early Blu-ray title House of Flying Daggers. And then you get done caught red-handed by a meddling reporter who discovered the Blu-ray playback is actually coming straight off a typical, normal old DVD+R. It's a sham, Sony, the whole thing's a sham! How are you gonna make a case for your laptop -- let alone Blu-ray as a format -- now that you tried to pawn off a DVD as a Blu-ray tech demo to a room full of industry professionals? We hope at least it was playing back a high def trailer, or something; now go to your room, you're gonna have some serious alone time, little mister.

Looks like the Sony PR are trying to discredit the guy or the Hardcore BR fans are. Either way he is sticking by his story and has put up more detailed pictures.

My response to all of this simply is: Bull****.

If you look through some of those pictures... look at the disk and the height of it. No match!

Also: It is not blue like the blu ray one so it's a fake.

If anyone really can't see that, they need to get their eyes checked.

I really hope Sony and the entire BDA really start to get serious about aggressively responding to these sorts of things under the auspices of libel, slander, and defamation. It's long overdue for some real "shock and awe" to begin.
