Default Is Sony going to release Pink Floyd on Blu

I was in the Sony Store Yesterday and I noticed in one of there carroselles that they had a Pink Floyd DVD I was hoping they would release it in Blu so there could be PCM. Although I think a Pink Floyd Blu Ray would sell really well I think they have miuch bigger releases to worry about.

Mr. Jack Torrance just asked PaidGeek the same question in the Insiders Thread. You should team up with him and poke him with the same question

Well there is already a Nine Inch Nails Blu-ray and an AC/DC one coming... Pink Floyd might not be a stretch.

Rolling Stone magazine did the best guitar rifts and Comfortably Numb was king of the castle, can't argue with that.

Put me on this request list. I want Roger Waters 2006 - 2005 Dark Side of the Moon World Tour on Blu-ray as well. Having seen the show about 4 times in 4 different places, I'm telling you, what a Blu-ray release this would be if we could get a lossless audio track.

Whoever this Paidgeek individual is, here's hoping this request makes its way to you.

More Floyd/Waters/Gilmour on Blu-ray!!!!

(yes, of course I am getting "Remember that Night" on Blu-ray, but want more)

Pink Floyd Classics to Highlight David Gilmour 'Remember That Night' Blu-ray

Sony BMG has announced it will bring the David Gilmour solo live event 'Remember That Night' to Blu-ray this September, with the set list including several Pink Floyd classics.
When Pink Floyd member Gilmour first announced a new live trek in support of his solo album "On an Island," longtime fans were ecstatic to learn that the guitarist would feature a number of the band's most well-loved songs in the set.

In addition to renditions of Gilmour's complete "On an Island" album, the 23-song setlist from this Royal Albert Hall stop on the tour includes such favorites as 'Wish You Were Here," "Echoes," "Breathe" and a guest appearance by David Bowie on "Comfortably Numb" and "Arnold Layne."
Sony plans to release 'Remember That Night' to Blu-ray simultaneously with the standard-def DVD on September 18.
Tech specs include 1080i video with uncompressed PCM 5.1 surround and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround tracks.
No extras have been announced yet, but stay tuned.
Sony has set a $29.95 list price for the release.

It's been pushed back to Oct 30. So you will have time to save up.

I think the DVD is coming out on the 18th though. (I may rent that but I would like to save it for seeing the first time on Blu Ray instead.)

But yeah, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Pink Floyd, it's all Sony in the USA so I think we choose our HD format correctly.

I believe that the recent Waters tour was shot in HD at the Toronto gig.

IIRC, PULSE was shot on video so no HD there.

Delicate Sound of Thunder on the other hand I believe was shot on film.

I think Sony also holds the rights to The Wall movie.

ha ha ha. my dad was flipping through the channels tonight and happened upon a concert on koce (public broadcasting station). the drummer was just completing a solo session that was soon followed by a sweet light show. we had no clue who it was. when the lead singer started singing and the camera stilled on him, i thought it was sting. but after further review, i changed my mind and didn't know who it was. so i googled the lyrics he was singing (because i liked what i was hearing) and sure enough...pink floyd. who knew? only thing i knew from pf (just like everyone else in the world) was the song 'the wall' and 'money'. the first, i've always been a fan of, the latter - not so much. but man, we kept it on and it was mezmerising. then i remembered back to some discussion on this board about it possibly coming to blu. and here i am. if that day ever comes, i will be picking it up. man i'd love to be there during a performance. awesome show.

This is will be a brilliant BD release. But if it's coming to BD it would be of utmost importance that the audio transfer is lossless. Music DVDs obviously more about sound than video.

Who can remember Roger Waters' In the Flesh live world tour back in 2000/2001? That's what I what on BD!! I have the DVD and it has a brilliant DD transfer. With Roger being the perfectionist he is, only PCM will do!!!

Did you guys hear the PCM track included on The Wall DVD? Sony owns rights to this cult mega-hit and it's only a matter of time before it's on Blu Ray.

There are 2 "WALL" DVDs out - the movie with Bob Geldorf and the live concert in Berlin. I doubt that the latter would be very exciting in HiDef as it is quite old and filmed in full-screen. But, the movie "Pink Floyd's THE WALL" would be exceptional........While PULSE is full-screen and standrard-def, at least it has a PCM soundtrack. Of course, with the recent reunion tours of Genesis and The Police, there is the rumor going around that Floyd will also re-unite. One can only hope. Sony/BluRay ought to sponsor-underwrite a tour for Floyd and come out with the ultimate Floyd concert discs (yeah - at least 2 discs).

Hey,

Quote "Sony/BluRay ought to sponsor-underwrite a tour for Floyd and come out with the ultimate Floyd concert discs (yeah - at least 2 discs)."

Seriously I read that after Live 8 they were offered $150M to get back to do another tour and they refused. I think the show is over now.

Then again,.. I thought that when I discovered them in the mid-80's and I saw Pink Floyd 7 times, Roger Waters twice once with Nick Mason, and David Gilmour with Richard Wright on a solo tour.

Some friends were like - but that's not really Pink Floyd, but I was just happy to take what I could get.

Agreed. By far their best. I'd kill to see/hear this on Blu-ray with an uncompressed PCM soundtrack. That would be amazing!

Lol, he was on none of the albums that became popular, really. The first two, if I'm not mistaken? Yeah, he started the band, but while he was a talent, he was out of his mind and impossible to work with. Gilmour and Waters made that band what it was.

He only became difficult due to his illness. Pink floyd would not be Pink floyd if not for Syd's ordeal. His leaving of the band shapped the entire future of the band. You can say that Syd was not on any that were popular and while it's true he was not playing on anything he was without question on those albums.

But you really cannot compare the "Popular" Floyd to THE Floyd as they were two different bands. Syd brought the Pink.
