I am a former Best Buy employee, from 1997-Dec 31st 1999 as Merch Team and SWAT Team, and my brother still works there. I forget what his position is now since it seems to change often. Before that I was Target from about 1993-1997.

Merch and SWAT were a blast, since you'd unload the truck pallets and set up new displays, and on occasion set up whole new stores. Everyday was like Christmas, opening sweet new products and building thier displays.

SWAT Sucks, because it seems like the hold you accountable for other departments losing stuff..

But Merch rocks, it's like you are on you're own Agenda. Getting up at the crack of dawn though...

Our SWAT Team (from the Chicagoland area) actually went to Michigan three times to set up stores there. It was pretty fun. Merch was definitely my fav, especially during the holidays. We were allowed to wear street clothes to work, although many many 5am or earlier mornings.

I have a suggestion for this thread:

If this isn't contrary to your companies' policy, it woud be great if you used this thread to update us on what's happening on the trenches as the 4Q plays out.

You could be our eyes, and use your unique position to tell us if consumers at large are responding positively, if they're favoring BD over HD DVD (both in hardware and disc sales), what are the stumbling points if any, and who's winning on the floor area.
