Default Just had a Blu-ray party

I just brought my PS3 to my dad's and hooked it up on his HDTV.

Me, my brother, my other brother, and my brother's girlfriend watched 300 in high def.

They were all blown away. After teh viewing I told them about the benifits of blu, I think we have more converts.

Default Blu Ray Lunches

I have done something similiar. I have had a couple of Blu Ray lunches. The first time my wife cooked a special lunch for about 6 of my co-workers. We zipped home and as my company ate their lunch, I played about 10-15 minutes of movies like Casino Royale, Apocalypto, King Arthur, and The Prestige. They all loved the fantastic images and great sound from the Blu Ray movies. Then I played a regular DVD of The Return of the King. Again they could not believe how great my Samsung BD-P1200 up-converted the movie! The images were so bright and colorful. I had to host a 2nd Blu Ray lunch two weeks later because once the word got out about the 1st lunch, another 6 people wanted to check out my Blu Ray system. I will probably host a few more lunches or dinners over the holiday time as more Blu Ray movies come on sale, especially the Die Hard movies, Spider-Man 3, and the Matrix movies.

I just had an anti baby shower for all my friends while my wife had a baby shower with all her friends. the guys were supposed to play poker but I popped in casino royale for the few who weren't going to play, and lets just say everyone migrated to the living room and sat in awe. there was still the normal drinking and smoking cigars, but we watched CR, the spiderman demo disc from best buy, and district b13. the spiderman disc got a whole lot of ''oh $hit'' comments and some drooling.

I had some friends over last night, and while I didn't crank up any BD movies (they all came over for 300 on release day) I did crank up "Heavenly Sword" The gamers (two on 360 and one on x-box) were damned impressed, and the non-gamer was definitely thinking about coming around to the blu side! Movies are cool, but if you are showing off the PS3, a killer game like HS or RFOM can really turn a head or two as well!

Another thing I like to do is stream HD content from PC to show off that capability as well.

When people understand the whole movies/game/media center, it's all the more impressive

I've done this several times myself with friends on the weekends. Everybody allways seems interested in seeing Casino Royale, and it blows them away.

They all want to get a ps3, but the problem isn't the price of it, it's the not having an HDTV part. I tell them it's probably good to save for a decent HDTV first and then get a ps3 later on.

I'm sure by christmas you'll see a real explosion in ps3/bluray sales.

Am I the only one who didn't think Casino Royale's PQ was that great? I've seen much better PQ movies to show of Blu-ray with than CR. Don't get me wrong, I love the movie and wanted it to look amazing on Blu, but it just wasn't as clear and sharp in many scenes as I would have liked.

Well, looking at your sig I see that you're watching it with a 56" display and I'm watching it on a 106" screen. Maybe that's where the problem lies. The much larger display exposes more of the pictures "faults" if you will.

That's weird. Casino Royale to me is one of the best looking Blurays i have. Right there with POTC's and Apocolypto. What type of TV is your 106"?

Some of the scenes, particularly in the first part of the movie, are a little softer than I would like.
