Default Avatar's Banshee copied ("got inspiration") from Delgo

I am not the one who discovered this, I thought I read it from a UK Home Theater magazine, either What Hi-Fi or Home Cinema. Judge for yourself.

If you have never heard of Delgo, which actually had a public theater release, it is not your fault.

Well, they're both dragon variations, so they are bound to have some similarities. Anyway, it's not the first time for James Cameron to have "borrowed" something from somebody else.

I don't care. The Banshees were much cooler. Plus, like Foggy said, this is super old news. And you forgot to mention that other stupid animated movie that came out in 09 that had similarities to Avatar.

No, no, you're the FIRST!--You're, like, exploring new frontiers of thought, where man has never ventured to ponder before!

Wait! So this Delgo was the first movie to have someone riding a dragon? I'm surprise it took until 2008 to come up with such a cool concept.

Why are you talking in parenthesis?!

I didn't see it either. Looks lame. Like the other animated movies they say JC ripped off (except Pocahontas).

If you think the Banshees in Avatar were original you have never read The Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey.

Read the book about the making of Avatar. The people who designed those did NOT copy anyone else, it was a process of refining creatures with 6 appendages. This is a non story. Also Cameron painted his first picture of the Navi many years ago.

Cameron is as original as white toast.

Ok, I won't argue that, but those pictures you posted proved absolutely nothing. How many other movies have similar stills?

This thread won't go well with certain people

Cameron not being original? Really?

But I find that this is just use by people who don't like Avatar. So what he took stuff from other movies and applied them in his own way to his stories? It does not change the fact that Avatar was fun and great for many people and not that fun and great for others. Big deal! I mean those that like this movie will continue watching it just like everytime someone on here say to me that the Star Wars prequels are ridiculous, like I care, I will still watch them because I like them.

Yes, Cameron wrote Avatar back in 1994, and did a lot of the artwork for the movie in the mid '90's as well - so if anything, this Delgo thing would be guilty of copying Avatar, not the other way around...

Just because Delgo was released in theaters a year before Avatar means nothing. Like magicman said - non story.

Gotta love how people who hate Avatar look for every avenue possible to tear the film down.
