The latest deals were key for HD DVD, says Tom Adams, president of Adams Media Research. "Generally, Paramount and DreamWorks (Animation) are moving toward bigger market share than they've had in the past," he says. "Their move has more long-term significance" than it would have even a couple of years ago.

the HD-DUD Promo group still insists, as the article states, they have no way of knowing if people who bought PS3s are using them as movie players, so they should be counted...

I bought my PS3 mainly as a Blu-ray player (as I'm sure many here did)... I have a few sports games but I'm not much of a gamer. I only snagged the PS3 because of it being one of the best (if not THE best) BD player on the market. I love how fast it loads.

I plan on spending at least $300 on Blu-ray movies over the next couple of months. I hope the holiday season is a boost for "our side". I'm still bummed about Transformers, but I'll get over it.

Default spin...

58% HD-DVD hardware sales lead then followed up with a 2-1 sales lead for movies with Blu-ray. It is QUITE obvious that there is one main reason why these two statistics are in conflict. The author should have stated that PS3 was not counted in that 58% with said "justification".

Again...spin.

Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, and Pioneer have Blu-ray players, Why would they continue to release Blu-ray player's at $499 price range if not selling well. HD DVD at one point had the lead due to being out a few months earlier, but Blu-ray quickly caught up and now it was burning HD DVD rubber.

It's only noobs, and MSFT fans that keep HD DVD alive. Billy gave Paramount some cash to go HD DVD since majority of their stuff is crap save some gems here and there. They needed quick cash, and while their DVD sales are still doing fine, they could care less about HD DVD sales which will not be totaly bad.

Blu-ray will win, we must buy more Blu-ray, then buy more Blu-ray, then Buy even more Blu-ray. Covert noobs to Blu Elite, then buy more Blu-ray.
