Default Universal/Paramount - Amnesty Program!

I propose we offer both companies a period of time where they can "join" Blu-Ray with no questions asked, no negative media, no bad press, no tormenting, fould language, boycotting or any negativity at all.

They can calmly and quietly come over to the Blue side and we will all act as if nothing ever happened to begin with. They can start pumping out titles, we start buying and the world.. is a much happier place

Oh well, it was a thought

Personally, even if they do come over, I won't be buying any of their previously released HD-DVD titles until they reach bargain bin pricing.

I won't be buying any movies unless they abandon the crappy HD DVD specs.

Everyone I talk to in the industry says it's far too late for that.

They won't care if people are saying "bout time", "took the morons long enough" as long as they're buying discs.

Honestly, who will boycott them when they're Blu?

You do realise that the "Bad press, boycotting," and such will come from HDDVD owners if they switch over to blu. Why would any of us do that to them if they switched over to blu?

Therefore your "plan" wont work since we cant convince HDDVD owners to be happy if they switch to blu

I was thinking the very same thing, look at how the BD camp reacted to Paramount leaving us, HD-DVD camp will do the same thing.

Ditto. As I have stated before, I don't want a converted RIP of Transformers from HD-DVD.

I want it remastered on a BD50 with just the movie, and a second BD disc of just HD extras. I'll pay the price, no problem.

No way will I boycott Uni/Paramount. I want Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Bourne, and Transformers. If they come to Blu there will be no hesitation from me and very little bad-mouthing (unless they don't give us lossless audio and use the same starved-for-bits video encodes as the HD-DVD counterparts).

Paramount undoubtedly did an AVC Blu-compression on Transformers before they went HD. These days the DVD is usually due within a few weeks of release, same probably goes for HD

Personally I'm far more concerned with Stardust

I agree...Let's just whack 'em
Let's send in the vikings from Capital One making sure that they preserve the film library just as the Administration protected the Bagdad Museum when they invaded.

I'll have to flix ST: TOS and see how good it looks to be honest.

I'm not at all confident that I'll rebuy it (and I won't rebuy season 3) for more than $75 a season. The DVDs look great, and they're uncut.

to be honest I would LOVE serenity on bd. even with its substandard transfer. I buy wb titles and they have that hd crap transfer quality, so why not get universal and paramount.

I agree the SRP of the Remasterd Classic Star Trek Season 1 HD-DVD Set is pretty scary at $194.99. You can almost get an HD-DVD PLAYER for that price. Ouch.

I sold my entire Classic Star Trek DVD collection (the two-episode-per-disc versions) BEFORE Paramount turned Red. Piss. Me. Off.

If it is certain that Blu Ray will win i would have no problem boycotting Paramount (for a year or two) releases after the way they treated Blu Ray collectors. On the other hand i would have no problem picking up Universal as they were never neutral in the first place much like Disney, Fox and Sony were never neutral.

If there is any anger on my behalve it would be towards Paramount.

Lol. Well, we know there are some people that won't be buying UniPar films anytime soon.

Or are you saying that and secretly going to pick them up? Hell, I bought Sleepy Hollow a few weeks ago. Does that make me an evil doer? I bought it because I liked it.
