Angry Spider-Man box set lack of extras

Hi people, new memeber on this site but i felt i HAD to join and vioce my utter disgust for what Sony/Blu Ray are doing to us comsumers - RIPPING US OFF BIG TIME

I had the unfortunate experience of foolishly buying the Spidey Boxset on BluRay yesterday. was so excited to see it in all it's glory only to find that the first 2 films are a budget release of the films and the 3rd film u seem to get everything.

My question is this - what is the purpose of a boxset??? isn't it supposed to include EVERYTHING so u wont need to buy it AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN. I am SICK TO DEATH with this industry with thinking that us comsumers should buy a film 3-4 times in order to get all the features. which leads me to these points.

1. Why do they boast that BluRay has all this space on the discs but then have the cheek to put Spiderman 1 and 2 in a boxset package with NO features on it

2. Why put the Spiderman 3 trailer on all THREE discs

3. When it was launched it was stated that u could download extra content unto the discs (i assume that is what all this space was for) if that is the case where is that option, i notice NO word on that front AT ALL.

i am a guy that loves his films, games, technology in general - but i have to say it has come to the point when i am gonna have to BOYCOTT bluray and sony once and for all unless they staart to treat us comsumers with a lil more respect with their releases.

ie. why no trailer on cruel intentions, but it's on the supposedly inferior DVD version

no features on Speed (well not as the DVD special edition)

NO DTS audio on Reign Of Fire

i could go on

WHAT IS THIS HIGH DEF for if u have to STILL buy the same films more than once - IT IS JUST NOT ON....

I would love to hear what u guys have to say on this

p.s. by the way, IF ANYONE WANTS THE SPIDEY BOXSET - let me know I'll let it go for £35.00

Chill man, its a new format.... its not like they have previously released any of the movies you are ranting about on Blu-ray. Give it a bit more time, you'll get the stuff you want. Or you could have just waited for the review if you are that worried about extras.

While I agree that BD should add all the stuff they can...who cares about movie trailers? Go to youtube and watch it. BD's have the best PQ and AQ, most of us don't really care about special features.

Well for starters, features really are not high on my list of necessities. I just want the best picture and audio quality. Second, because they can - it's a special feature so you have at least one per disc. Finally, Regin of Fire has a Dolby PCM track which is a little stronger than DTS.

Both formats are having weird issues when it comes to these things. Like for example their are plenty of HD DVD's out there that have jackshit to offer when it comes to bonus features and most recently with Transformers (probably the flagship release for HD DVD this time of the year) only has Dolby Digital Plus audio...no PCM, no DTS, no TrueHD. I am not saying Blu-Ray doesn't have this issues but to single them out is a little silly when HD DVD isn't exactly going all out on every title themselves. Just my 2 cents.

The audio on Reign of Fire is far superior to DTS. It's uncompressed lossless audio - matching the studio master. DTS is lossy, like .mp3's and dolby digital.

The Spider-man box set is for people who just want not S3, but the previous two movies in high def. With TrueHD tracks and 1080p, I couldn't care less what else is on there as chances are I'd never see it anyway.

Last I checked, the Blu-ray Spider Man 2 comes with the 2.1 version of of the film built in via seamless branching/option menus to decide which cut to watch.

I guess Sony feels everyone and their mama bought the DVDs, so why bother with the extras, just give them good picture. I don't mind because I have the DVDs and they would have been 480p anyway. I understand where your coming from though.

Paidgeek (insider from Sony Pictures) has said in the past that they're not keen on putting SD special features on Blu-ray releases because they don't feel they go well with the HD main feature. I don't personally agree with this strategy, but that seems to be the reason why they don't carry over the DVD special features.
