War of the Laptops - Blu-ray Forum

Within the next year and assuming both brands have Blu-ray enabled capabilities, I'm going to be shooting for either a Dell or Sony Vaio notebook. I wanted to know from anyone here, either from experience or just plain knowledge, if between these two there's one with an overall better performance and all around reliability track record?

im not getting a Blu-Ray player for a computer for at least 2 years or when the price drops to a near DVD price.

sony already have a laptop with bluray recorder out at $3500, it only burns at 1x i think.

it supports hdmi out with hdcp too - though i don't know if the hdcp stuff is supposed to work on winxp or only the future vista. good thing current movies don't require hdcp

with the announced new lines of cpus from intel, new os from microsoft, new faster burners, new hdmi 1.3 standard, directx 10 graphic cards etc. etc. for around the start of 2007, i'm not sure this laptop would be a good longterm investment.
right now though, and for the next two or three quarters, this seems like it'll stay top of the line and would be worth it. from a few reviews it seems well designed for a desktop replacement or a media center.

one feature i'd like to see but that is missing would be high definition video input capabilities, preferably digital. we'll have to settle for firewire on PCs for now though.
