Meet THE RAID Sequel's Hammer Girl

With Gareth Huw Evans' The Raid: Redemption available today on DVD and BluRay across North America and the director gearing up to head in to pre-production on the sequel - Berandal - in September, Evans has given fans a little taste of what the future has in store.

Evans tweeted the image above yesterday. It's concept art for a Berandal character known simply as Hammer Girl. Will she be working with or against Iko Uwais' Rama character? Nobody is saying yet but you can be damn sure she knows how to use the hardware she's holding.

Hopefully the only way is up for this series, and this sequel will be even better than the first one.

I am more than excited to see a sequel to THE RAID.

Here's an interview with Evans where he discusses ideas for the sequel. http://collider.com/gareth-evans-the...erview/141784/

It's from January so who knows how much has changed since then, but can you imagine a car chase by the film's amazing stunt team?

I have a hard time believing that a sequel could work. The first film barely had a plot and the ending tied up all of the loose ends. And by the looks of it, it's going to be an in-name-only sequel designed for the Eli Roths of the world.

Let's not judge, the first film ended on the tease of a bigger threat (remember the head cop only choice was to kill himself after finding out he had been set up for a foil). I'm interested to see how the sequel will do with more space for ambition, after all it's not like the first films plot really took center stage, it was the great action choreography.

I just hoping this doesn't go too cartoonish with gimmicky characters like Hammer Girl.

The Raid was filmed and released before Dredd.

Cannot wait for this! Loved the first one, was able to watch it in theaters and will do the same for this, trailer has an epic feel to it, like The Godfather those type of crime films.

I finally bought the first movie on Blu-ray and I'm looking forward to revisiting it before the sequel!

And another one!

Total Film Review:

Verdict:

Sumptuously shot, perfectly paced and flat-out exhilarating, The Raid 2 cements Evans as the best action director working today. Fight aficionados should brace themselves for a bruising, blistering ride.

Watched it y'day. Epic action. Many times I have to turn off from the screen due to the nature of violence, still I enjoyed the movie. Background score needs a special mention. It took the movie to another level. I'm glad watched it in theatres instead of waiting for Bluray.
