Introduction of 40GB model helps PlayStation 3 bag third best sales week since launch.

UK, October 16, 2007 - PlayStation 3 sales in the UK have jumped by a massive 173%, thanks to the launch of the lower-spec 40GB model and the cheaper 349 GBP 60GB bundle. What's more, hardware sales last week were the third best since the console's launch earlier this year.

Official Chart Track data provided to UK trade magazine MCV, also showed that PS3 software sales increased as well, with Resistance: Fall of Man jumping from 22 to eight, Heavenly Sword climbing to 14 and MotorStorm speeding ahead from 23 to 18.
