For the most part its region free. They're are studios like Fox & some Sony movies that are region locked. It isn't like HD-DVD where its region free.

thats as definitive of a list as anyone could get. most bd's like the second poster said are in fact region free but some are region coded... make sure you dont get shafted into ordering ones that you wont be able to play in your player (ps3 or standalone)
its good though because sometimes you can get certain titles before they come out here in north america in europe or the uk sites if its region free

Those new region codes are for BD - the old DVD region codes are still there. I just got a PS3 in Japan the other day but all but 1 of my BD's are from the states and so far no problem. Just have to have another dvd player to handle my region 1 dvd's. As posted above, you'd better double check on any games if going cross region.

All games are suppose to be region free.. And i brought a Jappannese PS3 when they 1st came out (live in NZ) and always import movies from amazon - after shipping its still cheaper than buying them locally just a huge wait time :-) - and also sometimes when my mates import titles that are region coded i end up with them :-D

Most of the time you dont need to worry. But there are threads around that guide you as to which titles you can and cant get :-)

Here is a link: http://bluray.liesinc.net/
If you are in region A and want to see if a movie from Region B will work then scroll down the page to Region B movies find the one you're interseted in then look in the column that says plays in Region A players.
Very few are actually region coded.

Note that Blu-ray region coding is maximum up to 1 year after the movie comes out in BD. So, for instance, if Sony presses another batch of Spider-Man 3 after October 30th, 2008, they will have to be region free.

enjoy
