Lionsgate announces October Blu-ray Disc titles
July 24, 2006

Lionsgate Home Entertainment today announced "Saw II", "Rambo: First Blood", "American Psycho (Uncut)" and "Young Guns" will be released on Blu-ray October 17. This news comes hot on the heels of their Comic-Con wave 2 announcement at Comic-Con just a couple days ago. Observant readers will also recognize October 17 as the day Buena Vista will roll out five Blu-ray titles of their own.
All four wave 3 titles will be presented in 1080p video with DTS HD High Resolution ES and 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround EX audio options and carry an SRP of $29.99. It looks as if no extra features will be included. Click through the disc details below for high resolution cover art, or head over to our Cover Art Gallery for all the latest Blu-ray artwork.

Always nice to see more releases. Would have been nice if the entire Rambo Trilogy were released at once though. Then again, I wouldn't watch the third one again even in HD.

Yeah I'm curious what the first box set on BD will be...

RoboCop trilogy? Nope, just the first one
Species trilogy? Nope, just the first one
Terminator trilogy? Nope, just the first two - different companies makes this highly unlikely anyway
Underworld 1/2? Nope, only the sequel
Young Guns 1/2? Nope, just the first one

Oh wait, I know... Universal will surprise us and their first BD releases will be of the Jurassic Park and Back To The Future trilogies... in my dreams!

Why not? The third one was the best, the second one was the worst imo.

I'm starting to better like the content I see becoming available...which just makes me itch all the more, impatiently, to see the BDA get these codecs and film transfer quality issues ironed ASAP!

I also really enjoyed the last Terminator. I know it's not as good as 1&2 but it's definately a must have for showing off your hometheatre setup! Givves your subwoofer a real workout.

I know I'm going to be at this dealer that I found near me and there's going to be weeping and gnashing of teeth if I don't see these early bumps in the road issues ironed out.

I would love to walk out of that place that day with either the Elite or the Sony player and KNOW I am going to have at least equivalent to the best HD-DVD PQ, as it should be.

I demand to be knocked on my ass that day by Blu-Ray. That's what needs to happen. That day needs to be the REAL launch. Shock and awe.

Yeah, I'll be there looking hard that day. That's a long wait...Long enough that I am starting to be tempted to do something very rash to help satitate my HD lust, even though I know I'd be taking on a piece of hardware that might make me go gray, or bald from pulling all my hair out in frustration.

I love the amount of titles that are being released... I might not buy them all, but the more titles, the better for the format.

I will be joining JTK and Brian on 10/25 and want the same shock and awe reaction. The Sammy I have it nice, but I'm not in awe yet.

I couldn't agree more, honestly I'm only buyign bd25's that get good reviews. The only poorly reviewed title i bought was HOFD, only because that movie is all about showing off your Audio and I can't wait to hear the bean scene in PCM lossless, as it was an eargasmic experience on the JDM dvd in DTS!

regardless of HDDVD being "better" right now, I don't care. I have every bit of faith that,

a) advance codecs, DL or both will happen & soon.

&

b) That sony and Pioneer will release player that will outperform the samsung in every way. (what else is new)

I don't think the DNR turned off or the release of new players will be the equalizer between BD25 mpeg2 vs. vc-1 HDDVD-30 but I think it will close the gap conciderably and pave the way for DL/AVC or DL/vc-1 on titles after xmas (aside from sony) who will most likely ride out mpeg2 until AVC has matured some more.

note:
some (mostly newer) movies do just fine on SL, mpeg2 so I have confidence that NR is playing a part in older and or grainier films.

I'm the opposite of you. I loved the 3rd one, thought the second one could have been better, but absolutely found the first one boring.

I was actually disappointed in the 3rd one.

Disappointments:
1. Edward Furlong wasn't John Connor, but some guy that nobody knows even after T3.
2. Claire Danes, I think she is really annoying.
3. Female Terminator, nothing wrong with the actress though, although her acting could be better.
4. Those exploading Terminator bataries, common how corny can you be?
5. Terminator being beheaded, than he screwes it back on (damn, who comes up with that crap?)

The rest of it was allright.

I am a Terminator fan, but those guys that made T3, could have done a much better job.

i have to correct myself. i said i wanted claire danes in HD. that's what i read off the back cover. i realised the error in my ways and it's really Kristanna Loken (the T-X) that i want to see in HD

See, that is why I loved it. Especially getting to see Kristanna Lokien again (last time I saw her was in Mortal Kombat Conquest). Oh, and T3 fit more inline with what I had been expecting out of the Terminator movies. See, the way it was made to seem to me (note, I only saw the trilogy fro the first time in 2004) was that it was supposed to be filled with armies of machines fighting humans, but it wasn't. Oh, and the fact that the machines won at the end.
