United Kingdom Jurassic Park 3D

Anyone going to buy the 3D blu ray of Jurassic Park?

US has a release date of 25th of April for it and from trailer the transfer looks much better then current disc.

You might get a better transfer even in 2D.

Titanic conversion is meant to be one of the best 3D discs so this might match it.

Is the US disc really out that soon? Amazing news, for some reason our cinema release date seems to be in August rather than April like everyone else.

I watched the trailer in 3D at the cinema a couple of times last month, it's a short trailer but it looks like the conversion is really well done - glimpses of the gallimimus stampede were very cool. It's one of my favourite films of all time so I can't wait to see how all looks. I really hope we get the IMAX release because not only is their 3D the best available but the idea of seeing it on that screen with that sound system...

It seems so. And the cinema is just a limited release then.

People can judge the quality of a HD transfer from a streamed trailer?

Sadly it doesn't seem that you will - it looks like the 2D disc will be the exact same disc as is currently available, judging by the fact that the extras are all identical and limited to what was already on the previous release.

It wasn't supposed to be limited but I think that, with the downturn in 3D re-releases (and also a much shorter IMAX run than they hoped for being as A Good Day to Die Hard takes screens away from them a week later, hence it being announced a couple of weeks ago that it was now a special one-week limited IMAX engagement) I think this is a case of striking while the iron's hot. Get the 3D release in cinemas, make a bit of money off that, get the blu-ray out while everyone is still in the mood for it.

He didn't say it was a better transfer, just that it looked it. And, having seen the downladed HD trailer and having watched it on a cinema screen four times, I agree with him - it does look like a better remaster. There's a difference in colour and detail. How the blu-ray will look no-one can say but it seems an improvement.

If the transfer is a marked improvement over what we currently have, then I'll be all over this. Love this film.

From what I hear, the 2D disc is the same as its original counterpart. I do have a 3D setup, but it's only a small one for my bedroom. I'll probably never watch JP in 3D and my TV doesn't have the 2D-3D conversion, so it's pointless for me.

Is it confirmed the included 2D copy will be the already available disc or are people guessing due to it including the same features as the original release? because the same can be said of the Top Gun 3D release, it will have the same audio tracks and extras as the original release but the 2D disc will be taken from the new transfer.

Day one purchase for me mate! I cannot wait! If reports from the 3D forum are anything to go by, the 3D is apparently very strong (based on those who have seen the trailer), with some comparing it to Titanic

I'm guessing but, as I said the US thread, I honestly think Universal will be cheap with this one and throw the old disc in. But we'll see.

Based on the trailer, yes it is. The foot coming down, the stampede, even the shot of Nedry opening the cannister - if it matches the trailer then it could be something very special indeed.

I hate titanic so not seen it in 3D but by reviews it sounded like a very good conversion. Some people even said it was better then post converted 3D recent flicks!

It is THE best post conversion yet and urinates over the majority of post converted releases (theatrical or home releases).

This. It's a shame you hate the movie Nekromantik, as the 3D is the best out there!
