Question What are the little numbers good for...?

Hi,

Have you ever recognized the little numbers on the side of your Blu-ray Disc Case / PS3 game ?
( It´s also mentioned on DVD´s / PS2 games etc. )

I would like to know for what this is good for...

Does it mean ... "you own the [12550] copy of this movie"

If anybody know,
I appreciate it

Do you mean the catalog number? On the spine?

Catalog number for that title for the studio. Pretty much meaningless to you and me.

It is strictly a number used for indexing the source material by the production company. Every copy of a given film will have the same number on its spine. I would imagine that even across platforms it would carry the same number as well... now I'm curious... damn it! You are going to make me waste at least a half hour researching this further!!!
