Maybe? To avoid problems on future PS3 games. EA should take note.

Stranglehold has some occasional framerate drops,so hopefully this does away with that in future games of theirs on the PS3.

Hopefully this is true, and that all the other 3rd parties follow suit. The PS3 is still thought to be the overall winner this time around and even with lower console sales is still predicted to bring in the most revenue from games. Besides PS3 ports to 360 trun out great due to the 360's 3CPU set up is a natural step down from the Cell processor. So PS3 owners get good games 360 owners get good games and all on the same day. I am not seeing the problem, you listening EA?
I havent come across any yet, but I know if runs a lot better then the 360 version, which by all accounts was a mess. Last edited by Blu Blur; 11-01-2007 at 08:31 PM. |

I had two severe slow downs on the second and third bosses when a lot of the environment was being destroyed at once. The first one almost crashed completely and when it came to the boss was just standing there doing nothing(which gave me an easy kill!) but the second slow down crashed the game entirely forcing me to to shut off the PS3 on the button on the system(PS button on the controller wouldn't work).

Does anyone on here think that Midway could create some really good games on the playstation 3? I don't know, the ps3 has recieved a lot of negative feedback both from the consumers point of view and the developers point of view. The ps3 has a pretty good lineup of software for the holiday season. I'm curious to see how the console war will be over the holidays.

First of all its the middleware that PS3 needs. Somewhere down the line someone like Criterion will develop a really efficient "Renderware", Polyphony are probably using a beta version of Sony's middleware. When this code gets out to the 3rd parties it will go some way to rectifying the problem. Midway are probably harnessing the latest middleware right now and thats why a sudden change of direction has been made.
See the problem lies that the 360 is very familiar territory, although MS probably give these 3rd parties middleware the tools to enhance it or reprogram it is easy. Thats because the chipset is essentially yesteryears chipset with a few turbos bolted on. The cell is very different in architecture and 3rd parties don't want to get down to code level to get the best from the machine. They want a foundation on which to work from. Once Sony/Insomnia/Polyphony/Konami congregate their strengths, you'll see the fruits of ones labour. When this happens, I forsee PS3/Sony/Blu ray winning, because on most grounds the chipsets and hardware in the PS3 is more flexible (note I said flexible, not better). Flexibility essentially means freedom to make cheaper games, then the situation will be reversed and it will be harder for shoe horn all these new standards to the Xbox 360. Only time will tell if thats the case or not. |

Don't forget, Peter Moore went to be head of EA. Since he was never fond of Sony I wouldn't put it past him to try and screw us over. He after all was chief spokesman for the 360.

I think EA has been overrun by the managers and pointy heads.. they aren't the source of your creativity..their only option now is to buy smaller creative companies who want to cash out.. but they will end up killing the spirit or the talent leaves in the end. I just don't think they are capable of doing anything else at this point unless something drastic changes - and it shows in their products. |

There are games now that are really taking advantage of the hardware..whether it be the Cell, Blu-ray, standard HDD or 32 player on-line. Looking at our list of games the exclusives seem to exploit it's advantages much better than the cross-platforms. But that's to be expected. So I'd look at exclusives first if I were you.

The arcade version of Time Crisis 4 used Namco SYSTEM SUPER 256 hardware which is based off the PS2, they're making visual improvements to the PS3 version but I wouldn't pimp it as a game that shows off the PS3 at all.

I wonder what this Open World project for PS3 could be.
