Default Upscaling SD Blu-ray content?

Ok...this question has been misunderstood many...many times on a different thread (regarding a different subject). So I thought I'd ask it here:

The PS3 upscales DVDs to 1080p...most of us know this, and I am not questioning this.

My question is: Is there a way to upscale SD content on a Blu-ray disc? (special features and such).

My projector changes resolution when I select a 480i special feature, but shouldn't the PS3 automatically upscale it to 1080p? (or 720p in my case).

I am not saying anything about how there SHOULD be HD special features on blu-rays, I am not saying that the PS3 does not upscale DVDs...I am saying that it does not upscale SD content that is on a Blu-ray disc.

That would be nice. It is annoying that my tv flickers (to change res) everytime I go between the menu and sd extra content.

I don't believe you can upscale 480 content on a BD....

If you have a 1080p TV it will upscale it. If you have a 720p one like me, then it wont. I'm sure it could be fixed with a frmware update but Sony doesnt seem to care to much about 720p/1080i.

Not as far as I know..I explained why I *think* that's the case in the other thread.

Just read that one as well...thanks.

Does seem that it would just be based off of the disc type and it's an oversight, simple enough.
