Default Does a 1080i source look better on a 1080p tv than a 720?

My dad recently got a 1080p and I noticed the 1080i broadcast channels look much better on it than on my 720p. Is it just b/c his tv is a bigger size so you see more details or does it display 1080i better than mine?

thanks

Depend on the tv. If it is a very New tv & it is a RP or Plasma it needs some time to brake-in. It could not be calibrated right, you could be getting a better signal to your tv ect....

In theory yes because no scaling has to be done, just line doubling of the existing signal which is much easier to do.

Both. The resolution is much higher, and the larger size makes it easier for you to pick up details you'd miss much easier on the 720p.

It comes down to internal processing. People make the mistake of thinking HD panels don't use any. They do. The newer panels both Plasma & LCD use better processing but a cheap 1080p wont look as good as a great 720p. Put the great 1080p beside a great or mediocre 720p and the 1080p will smoke it. You get what you pay for.
