I'm surprised there wasn't a thread for this, especially after reading that the 3D in this is supposed to be pretty good.

The 3D for the movie is excellent! Some of the best 3d that Pixar has ever done imo.

The movie I felt was good, but uneven. Maybe it will improve for me on second viewing I hope once I put the plot pieces together

Thanks for the update. It's possible Disney is reading the 3D threads on the feedback about how Dreamworks' 3D tends to reach strong 3D more often than Disney's more mild 3D efforts of the past. Hopefully this trend continues.

Turbo 3D is next up, from Dreamworks. Disney's Monsters University reminds me too much of school, so I passed for now.

Lol the movie did make me think a little too much of school at times (I suppose that was the overall point so they could nail the college theme down, good sides and bad sides and all lol)

Turbo 3d looks amazing in 3d and I think the concept and comedy are great!

Also in Harry Potter. The first movie felt like being back in school, but thankfully later movies in the series explored a lot more outside of the school.

This reminded me a little bit of Rodney Dangerfield's Back to School. And Animal House even.

Yes, Turbo 3D thread created as Dreamworks has been creating some impressive 3D lately.

Despite the so-so reviews, quite a lot of fun and a solid 3D presentation.

A worthy prequel!

Got to see Monsters University in 3D in theaters. The movie was funnier than expected, and I really enjoyed it. The 3D is about what you'd expect if you've seen any other Pixar 3D film. Depth and roundness looked excellent (and much better from a theatrical distance than they will from my sofa). The 3D planning/story-telling was kind of mediocre--some good but mostly a non-factor.

Movie - 4.5/5
Depth Strength - 4.5/5
Roundness - 5/5
3D Creativity - 2.5/5

The Blue Umbrella (Pixar Short):

Short Film - 3.5/5
Depth Strength - 4/5
Roundess - 4/5
3D Creativity - 2/5

Movie was good, I thought the 3D sucked.. left me disappointed. The only times I enjoyed 3D was when confetti was being thrown & that depth, not popping out.

I want this edition, but both myself and my sister agree it's a terrible cover art and that it doesn't represent the film at all. We are both hoping to find a store exclusive for the 3D edition with a nice cover that actually suggests the spirit of this film.

I agree, the 3D cover is pretty disappointing. The 2D cover is nice however.

Monsters University 3D Blu-ray is now given an October 29, 2013 Release date.

The same for the new 3D edition of the original Cars , which was re-rendered in 3D probably to promote Planes.

Maybe the artwork doesn't matter to some, but I have to agree this cover art is pretty bad. It doesn't reflect the movie much at all. It also doesn't make any sense that the border is a faux gold color when every other Pixar 3 D blu-ray release has been silver. I sure hope the looks of this changes by the time it hits the market.

must have been the theater's setup, (which was less than ideal) but I wasn't completely wowed by the 3D presentation.

Absolutely. I am personally hoping for a store exclusive release with a better cover for the 3D edition. I don't know if Disney would change the cover art following the announcement, but this one is the worst of recent covers. It's simply not what the film is like at all. The 2D only cover art was great, too, featuring the official movie poster (and being a better representation of the spirit of the film).

I missed out on this at $22.49 when it first went up for pre-order as I was waiting for a Gold Box appearance. I noticed that it has now shot up to $44.99. What's the likelihood of it dropping to $22.49 again before release date? Or should I just wait a couple of months afterwards? I'm in no real rush, but want to make sure I get a slipcover - normally I throw them away without a second thought, but I have all my 3-D discs together and like the uniformity of the slips and the way they make that section stand out.
