Default Is Wal-Mart really favoring HD DVD?

go to their website and search "Toshiba HD-DVD" and tell me what comes up...

also, when you click on "movies" under "entertainment", what is at the top on the left sidebar and what is on the bottom?....

just food for thought..

wal-mart is not favoring hd dvd. ive talked to about 3 WM employees now, who all have said that this is part of contractual obligations that they had with Toshiba from about a year ago. This is the final part of the obligation and new deals fell through. My guess is the deal said to offer an HD DVD player at 100 below what other retailers where offerince (they were thinking it was going to be selling at 399, so a 299 at walmart wouldn't really look that ridiculous) (ill tell you right now if you told tosh execs last may the a2 was going to go for 98 bucks in oct. they would have sh1t their pants) and to run tv ads and mention hd dvd. after that its done. blu-ray is still favored with shelf space and until hd dvd has more shelf space than blu-ray i do not believe the hd dvd camp has struck any deal with WM. WM is not stupid, they know that they have sold more blu-ray discs than hd dvd by probably 2:1 and them favoring hd dvd just doesn't make sense.

They said they wouldn't carry the Venturer player, not Tosh.

"“We have no plans to have Venturer in our stores this holiday,” Wal-Mart merchandise spokeswoman Melissa O’Brien said. “We will continue to offer the best values on popular HD DVD and Blu-ray products from leading consumer brands like Sony, Samsung, Philips, Toshiba and RCA.”"

I had a customer ask if we would price match walmarts 98 dollar dud, said no because pricematch policy is the best interest of the company, and us losing a 120 dollars to sale the last a2 floor model was not in our best interest. He said ok, and that all bestbuys are out of the a2. Good to hear.

I said this in another thread, and I'll say it here. I went to two walmarts today, no sign of any ad for hd-dvd, no mention of the sale, and no players of any sort, be it an A2 or A3. What I did find was that they did sell out, big deal, my guess they didn't have many to begin with, and that they were playing a blu ray ad on the tvs. Also, seeing how no mention of hd dvd could be found, the only people that will benefit from this are the select few who were actually able to find one, otherwise, the rest of the population had no idea this happened as there are no signs anywhere to be found about it be it online through walmart.com or in store.

Default Boycott Wal-Mart?!

Since Wal-Mart is supporting HD-DVD so heavily, is anyone else thinking about boycotting Wal-Mart?
