I noticed Disney wasn't on there too, but it's nothing to worry about I'm sure. Disney is one of the strongest supporters of Blu-ray...there's no need to worry.

I don't think that's the official site. That link goes to blu-raydisc.info, not blu-raydisc.com.

I'd like to think Disney isn't wasting all those millions promoting bluray...I think its safe to say disney's on board.

yes its a official site for the BDA ..and if you go to blu-raydisc.com as of sept 2007

the board of directors has not changed and guess what :

Blu-ray Disc Read-Only Content Participant Agreement- OR OTHER WISE KNOW AS THE CPA

Agreement Term.....5 years
Note: The above fee should be paid annually for each year starting from March.

Warner Bros. already paid for it...

AND as for Disney you need to ask where is Disney.....?..

The question(s) were around BDA Board membership, not licencing.

So while interesting, it doesn't really mean much in terms of that whole debate.

Many BDA board members ( http://www.blu-raydisc.com/general_i...009/Index.html ) don't show up on these licencing lists.

So the fact that Disney is not there, means nothing.

Saw a Disney blu-ray commercial today during NFL game, also there is a full page Disney blu-ray ad in this months The Official Xbox Magazine. Disney is advertising as much as anyone.
If you think Disney is dropping blu-ray, then I bet you're the kind of person who could research both formats and still choose hd dvd.

Guys, I am assuming that this list is of the license/patent holder and Disney does not hold any patents on this stuff so they are not listed there but they are still a content provider and on the board of the BDA.

Sure. I've previously considered this case closed anyway as far as continuing support of BD from WB. Good luck convincing the HD DVD zealots who are certain WB is going HD DVD exclusive next year.

I just have this feeling that next year is going to be "funny" for BD supporters...

they signed up for 5 years can they break the agreement you bet...would they...if it means that Blu-Ray still makes money for them...the playstation 3 with the spiderman 3 movie for this fall will have a very positive effect. and if the BDA makes a very strong marketing campaign this fall and play a type of TACTIC out from left field that i think they will that will be the end of HD DVD ONCE and for all. LOVE the HD DVD bid with the $98.00 Player..the BDA has something that's going to knock people's socks off.

this is a clue:

Russ Crupnick, vp and senior analyst at NPD Entertainment, said the high replacement rate among HDTV owners might be a little misleading "because you're looking at the very early adopters who may go in and replace all their 'Matrix,' 'Star Wars' and 'Shrek' DVDs.

"Once you get to the mainstream consumer," he added, "we're not sure they're going to be all that anxious to replace their libraries."

Even so, Crupnick sees good times ahead for the high-definition disc business, though it might take a little longer than initially expected.

For HD packaged media to succeed, he said, "There has got to be a coordinated effort between the studios, consumer electronics manufacturers and retailers to really make consumers more aware of the benefits of the formats."

He added, "Overall, consumers are very happy and complacent with DVD. So what is the messaging we can create that will make people take the plunge? That's what's missing now -- there isn't something equivalent to, 'Ah, ABS brakes, I'd better get a car that has that.' "

To that end, Crupnick applauds big awareness campaigns like the Walt Disney Co.'s national mall tour in support of the Blu-ray Disc format, which he calls "brilliant."

"The one problem you have right now is that when stores demonstrate the software, they show them on small TVs that haven't been properly calibrated, so you don't see much of a difference," he said. "Anything you can do to get consumers to see the same things we see at (the) CES (trade show), to better understand the benefits, is crucial.

"Consumers sort of get it -- they know high-definition discs are better and clearer and so on. But they're not quite ready to make the leap, so anything we can do to push them that way is great, which is why I think the Disney mall tour is terrific."

Crupnick said that over the years there have been other home entertainment formats "that didn't get off the ground because consumers didn't quite get the benefits -- SACD, DVD Audio, laserdisc and so on.

"So without improving the benefit proposition and probably driving down hardware prices even more," he said, "it's going to be a longer haul than we'd probably like."

HOW do you get people to start buying into a new MEDIA format..the ONE trump card of the BDA has not been played in full force yet and when they do..its going to be crushing

they have been working to get it cheaper than their player prices because that was what was realy needed first. cheaper player prices second.
