Default samsung player fun

as i stated the other day, a local dealer of mine that i'm friends with has a sammy player in his store that he has let me play with. anyway, i went back today and played a little more with it. i went head to head on it with the denon 2910 doing some upconversion. i tested the two players with spiderman2, lotr return of the king, and gladiator. between the two, my friend and i could not tell a difference. the picture was superb, colors vibrant, with almost having that HD feeling just with something missing. btw, i have to say that i did get goose bumps from when the roheren charged the armies of mordor. it just looked fantastic especially during that battle scene. in our gut, we felt the 2910 might have been better. however, we could not give an exact reason for why we felt this. it was prob exactly the same and we just wanted there to be a difference.

second, i was speaking to him about the first sammy players that came out. he said that his distributor was telling him about the sammy chip problem. while the problem has been corrected, i was told that the bad players only made it to special reviewers and national distributors (notably only best buy as i was told). while i don't know the actual number of players that were shipped, it could only be 1500 to 15000. again, not numbers i know, or that were available to me or my friend.

figured that i would give my thoughts again at this point.

also, i do know for a fact that the player we used was the corrected player by the pictures the provenflipper has given about the new loading screens and information from the distributor.

I am also amazed by the upconversion abilities of the Samsung player. I put one up at work and the picture is stunning. I have really tested many movies at home, as I really only watch Blu-ray disks, but I know without a doubt it is far better than my Sony Upconvert player.

it does seem that the chip problem in the player was causing a lot of problems.

I think these Updated players are really starting to shine with the noise reduction off, picture is much sharper. I couldn't help looking over several times today at work and watching some clips upconverted by the sammy onto the 50" pioneer plasma in our experience pod. Many customers where captivated througout the day. Hopefully we get stealth back in stock soon so we can have that movie playing in the POD. But i'll tell you what, i've seen this dvd demo disc in several players/tv's throughout the store and this was the Best i've seen it look. pseudo HD!

Samsung gets an A+ for upconversion abilities IMO.
