Default Wal-Mart Decides HD Format Wars???

Haven't seen a link to this article in the forums. This guy is a freekin' idiot...to think that Wally World will actually decide the winner of the format war. I am sure that some interesting comments will follow...

Not only is he wrong about Wal-Mart deciding the HD format of the future, but he also says the cheapest PS3 is $500. I mean, he viewed Amazon to come up with the blu-ray price, but can't find the price of a PS3?

Anyone remember the % of HD Media sales out of market share by Wal-Mart? I believe it's pretty low.

He also talks about the xbox 360 add on as being bad for Blu-ray?

Seriously, most bloggers you would expect to search the internet for easy to find information. Apparently, they don't.

Oh yea, Boomer Sooner!

ha-ha, that's pretty funny.

At least we agree on Blu. I was cheering hard for you guys against OSU though, we needed you to win for our BCS rating. In fact, please win out the rest of the season.

Crap! The only thing Wal-Crap decides is what it decides for it self. It sells crap all day long, does it mean we have to buy it? Nope. What happens when crap is not bought? It's not sold. Ok kiddies, what happens to stuff that is not sold/bought?

That's right!

That guy even brought up Betamax which was what the 1970's? The deal then was that it was Sony vs. everybody else, now it is Toshiba vs. everybody else. The guy who wrote the article fudged the PS3 price as well. More bs from a corporate tool. Who the hell goes to Wally World for new technology?

I think he got the wrong "W" who is going to decide the winner of the war, it is Warner who will decide, not Walmart.

Um, just in case he didn't check, BOTH Toshiba and Sony stock were down. One store, even Wal-Mart, won't cause a major shift in the stock market, unless something significant happens.
Under $100 is a great deal for an HD-DVD player, considering it'll likely end up on Ebay or in the garbage in a few months.

As soon as I decided to buy an HD TV and invest in Nex-gen movie technology, the FIRST place I thought of was Wal-Mart ... NOT!

If Walmart decides HD wars, maybe HD-DVD should be distressed to see that way more shelf space is devoted to Blu-Ray than to HD-DVD.

Today, nearly 20 million people will shop at Wal-Mart and they will see Toshiba's HD-DVD featured right up front for the equivalent price of 2 video games or 4 cases of Bud.
Has anyone actually seen a display up front with this piece of s#&* player? The two Wal-Mart's I went to didn't have any kind of dedicated display and the only red dvd's I saw were Knocked Up and TF...compared to the 50 or so BR's they had to offer.
