Default Hollywood Video to rent Blu-rays and HD DVDs

I work at a Hollywood Video. Many have closed or are closing down soon including the one I worked at (I was transfered to a different one). Not every Hollywood is closing down, a large minority of them are staying open. Today my district manager told me that a few stores in his district will be getting both Blu-rays and HD DVDs for rent. This is not Hollywood testing the waters, they have already done this in California for a while, this is actually them diving into the Hi-Def market. Right now all I know is that the Elk Grove store (Elk Grove is a suburb of Chicago) is getting them along with a few other stores that were not named to me. I dont have a date yet, it might even be January or something, but it will be soon and I will post as soon as I know anything more. It will prolly be announced by the time I know anymore though.

The day that Ratatoulie numbers come out will be a big blow to HD DVD, I strongly feel it has outsold Transformers.

Default Blu-Ray & HD-DVD at my Hollywood Video now

I was just at my local HV (Rancho Cordova, CA) and saw a decent selection of BD & HD-DVD. There were two large sections, about the equivalent of 8 BD cases wide and with 7 shelves, one for BD & one for HD-DVD.

Funny thing was, the BD section was crammed full of BD's side by side and some stacked face-to-face with the spine facing out (about 60 BD's total).
The HD-DVD side? It had about 6 HD-DVD's on each shelf (about 40 total) with plenty of space between them and about half of them were duplicates of what was on the BD side.

More expensive than Blockbuster to rent though ($5.99 for 5 days, BB is $4.99), but nice to see Hollywood finally getting on board.

I too saw the same thing just tonight. Saw they had a poster in the front. I checked it out of course and it seems they are carrying a good amount.

My local Hollywood Video has carried both since early this year (maybe February or March). There are more Blu ray's than HD DVD.
