USA Blazing Saddles (40th Anniversary)

Blazing Saddles Blu-ray

Quote:
"My name is Jim, but most people call me...Jim." And most people call Blazing Saddles deliriously funny. Filmmaker, star and paddle-ball whiz Mel Brooks goes way out West and way out of his mind with a spiffy spoof set in an 1874 Old West where 1974 Hollywood is just one soundstage away-and where nonstop fun blasts prejudices to the high comedy heavens. Cleavon Little, Gene Wilder, Slim Pickens, Harvey Korman, Madeline Kahn and more join for horseplay and horselaughs, making Blazing Saddles the #6 choice among the American Film Institute's Top 100 Comedies. Give these out to the boys in lieu of pay. And enjoy.

Update (2/3):

Release date: May 6

I'll double dip if it includes a new master and/or lossless audio.

If this new release has a digibook or digipack packaging, then I'll play ball.
Otherwise, I'll keep my old Blu-Ray.
(New 4k master and Lossless 5.1 audio would also be nice too)

I'm a fan of the film, but enough with the anniversary editions. It's what made DVD so irritating and took the fun out of it for me. Every anniversary edition is 1 less new to Blu-ray title we might get. I understand why they do it, but it's silly already.

It's funny that the actual quality of the transfer itself seems more like an afterthought to you than the case it comes in.

So, you would re-buy the exact same version that you already own if it comes in a different case, but it almost sounds like you wouldn't buy an all new transfer with lossless audio if it comes in a standard Amaray case.

I've just never understood why so many people seem to be more concerned about the container than what it actually contains.

I think the real news in this post (at least for me) is that The Big Red One is coming to BD. Very cool to read

I get the feeling this might go the way of the Spaceballs 25th Anniversary.

That's been known for a few days now. Unfortunately it appears to not be the reconstructed version.

Exactly what I think too. If Warner Bros. passed on doing one for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, I doubt do one for Blazing Saddles.

Doesn't it say the case will be 3d? So it will have a lenticular cover I presume?

No, it just means the Blu-ray case is shown from an angle, rather than a flat 2D stock image.

Whoa, that means my parents took their four kids to this when we ranged from ages eight to twelve.

In the words of the immortal AJ Soprano, 'that's dicked up'.

(for what it's worth, I was the oldest and had a blast)

If this is a new master, then this is definitely a welcome announcement. I wish Young Frankenstein would get an upgrade as well. It's 40th anniversary is this year too. Ahem... Fox.

Isn't Young Frankenstein already blessed with an exceptional transfer?

It is. History of the World and Blazing Saddles are ones that need a new master in terms of Mel Brooks films.
