They probably just already had their release slate set that far ahead. It's no different than Pixar/Disney having the next 3 or 4 years planned out.

I know it might be a little too early to predict, but I don't think this film's going to be too good. After the Minions movie, I think they'll begin getting to the bottom of the barrel and the novelty of the series will begin to rub off.

I thought 2 was a lot better than 1, but I agree I don't know how long they can milk this one. While I think the minions are WAY overrated (I found the girls much more interesting), I can understand doing a one-off film there, though I think a TV show with the minions like with Penguins of Madagascar would have been a better move.
After that though.... let it go.

Well, all I am gonna say about part 3 is this....IT BETTER BLOW AWAY PART 2...it does not have to be as good as Part 1 tho...I will proceed with caution on this one because I am praying this is not as bad or worse than Part 2...

Part 2 wasn't BAD, it just wasn't quite as charming or funny as the original film, which is quite excellent IMO.

I liked it. That said, Kristen Wiig was only ever good in Secret Life of Walter Mitty. She pissed me off something fierce in DM2.

The first one is my favorite family film of all time...the second one, to me, was a HUGE disappointment...and is also my least favorite film of 2013...

If you liked part 2, that's cool, to me, its just not good at all...I hope my faith is restored in this franchise with a solid offering of part 3...
