Default Uncompressed Sound?

Some reason when I select uncompressed sound I don’t receive any audio from my rears, sub or centre speakers. I use optical sound and my BR player is a ps3. What am I doing wrong?

make sure to check your audio settings on your ps3 to see if they are right or not

Right, it seems that your audio is set to either bitstream or the 5.1 or 7.1 channel PCM options are not selected...

An optical cable can't support uncompressed pcm audio. You would need to use hdmi and connect it to an hdmi equipped receiver to uncompressed sound.

Optical's spec does not allow the bitrate for uncompressed 5.1. You're limited to DD or DTS 5.1 or PCM 2.0.

edit: I shouldn't be Tab-browsing these forums ;-)

Whoops, totally looked over that part...optical only allows for uncompressed two channel sound...

He is getting sound from the left and right channel, he is not getting it from the rears, sub, or center channel. This would be because optical only allows for the right and left channel with uncompressed PCM.
