playing videos on ps3 help? - Blu-ray Forum

hi, i recently try to play avi file on my ps3 by puttin it both on sony memory stick and usb but both files did not work. can the ps3 play all sorts of files or does it only play some e.g. mpeg 4 etc. if you know could you pls let me know thanks.

all files will not work on ps3, you have to get a ps3 movie converter called ps3 video9.

Or you could just wait until FW2.0 and get DIVX with it.

tries avi files to with no luck. PS3 seem to recognize mpeg4 but im not familiar with how to convert my avi to mpeg4

You can also encode video into mp4 format.

If your AVI files are Divx/Xvid encoded, don't encode them to MP4 just yet. Wait for the next firmware update.
