Best Webcam (?) - Blu-ray Forum

I'm going to be needing to find a decent webcam (with decent video chat and sound capabilities) here to keep in touch with certain people who are out-of-town. But with my current computer I'm not certain as to which webcam would best suite my needs.

I bought this computer at the very end of 2003. It is a Dell Dimension 2400 series (feels very ancient already compared to designs/features they have now) and has...

- Intel Pentium 4 Processor at 2.530GHz, 9KSJV31

- 128MB DDR SDRAM at 333MHz

- 17IN (16.0IN VIS) Monitor

- 40 GB Hard Drive

Also, how can you tell if you have a USB 2.0 port?

I have the very same computer (it's on its last legs), but I got a $50 Microsoft Lifecam webcam that works great. You can use it with MSN Messenger, or Skype or I'm sure several other programs.

Be patient with it, though. Each time I set up a call, it takes my computer a LOT longer to fire up the webcam's video than the other person on a new computer. If you have an issue where you get video but no sound, go into your chat program's settings to make sure you have the correct microphone selected --- you'll want to select your webcam mic.
