Question DirecTV Receivers

Hi Guys

I wonder if anyone has delt with this. I have a second Dirictv receiver on order for the master bedroom. This is an interior room, it has no outside walls and I don't want the installer climbing around in the atic to string cable and I sure don't want cable strung out across the floor or along the baseboard..

Now the question. Is there a wireless device for transmitting satilite signals from ant. to receiver(or perhaps 1 rcvr. to another) and if so does it do the job seemlessly?

thanks in advance rbc

Not that I know of. You need the RG6 cable. If this is a free install, they will more than likely tell you that it will cost extra to run cable down/thru walls.

I have one receiver from Dish Netowrk connecting to two TVs, one wirelessly. I can watch different programs on each TV, so the tech is available for that. I don't know if DirecTV has it, though. However, I would avoid Dish Network at all costs. Their service has been horrendous since day one. I cannot wait until my contract is up with them. They are, bar none, the worst company either my wife or I have ever dealt with.

I've been really happy with DirecTV since day one. Plus, it was quite a deal for signup. I'm still waiting for my $50 gift card and portable DVD player. And my friends get $50 off their bill for recommending me. Needless to say, the ever increasing number of Hi Def channels is spectacular.

I have DirecTv and I'm having major problems with their HD boxes. When they switch between a SD channel and an HD channel it locks up for a few seconds and then releases it. Makes for some really horrible surfing!

Otherwise, I've had good luck with them for a long time. Now if they would hurry up and get my locals in HD, I'd be a happy camper.

I've been with directv since 99, when I switched from dish and I've been happy ever since.

With regards to the wiring, if you don't want to see exposed wires let them in your attic. Remember, these guys are paid by the job and the quicker they do it they more they get paid. They will not necessarily take the time to make it look right, if exposed wiring can ever look right.

Shooting a 3/8ths to 1/2 inch hole in the top plate of your wall and dropping the wire down is no big deal and if your concerned about letting them up there to do it, do it for them. An inside wall will not (generally speaking) have insulation and is simply hallow. Just find the closest light switch or wall plug in your room to where you want to have the jack installed and search in your attic where the electricians brought this wire down. The hole they shot which is usually 1 inch in size might even have enough space you don't have to shoot a hole at all provided it's where you want it and it's big enough. Just push the wire down into the wall.

Knock a hole in the sheetrock where you want the jack, about an inch square, the jack plate will cover it and use an old wire coat hanger to "fish" the wire out of the wall. It should be found relatively easily enough but remember not to "bull in a china shop" this pulling of this wire out. Take it easy and smoothly and you'll be fine.

Do you have your box set to "Native" mode? if you do, it will take longer for the box to lock on to the native, i.e. 480i/720p/1080i mode.

You can set the box to 1080i for instance or 720p and it will be much quicker.

I too am in Dish hell. I can not wait to go with Direct. I am on my 9th 622 box in the last 3 months. Sorry for high-jacking the thread. I would check with somthing called the Rabbit(?), not sure if correct, it can beam the signal to any tv in the house but I do not think it will do HD channels.
